that 749 Rs haier phone is ok but it has pathetic battery and build quality, that phone cant even last 6 months in ur tight jeans pocket. One of my friend got that phone and within 2 months his battery cover lock broke and he faced frequent disconnections during calls as his battery used to come out of its place he wrapped a cellotape around his phone body to keep the battery cover in its place

Re: Budget Mobile Phone
I believe that 1k is the minimum you will have to pay to get a service of your choice, otherwise you will be tied down to just one service provider like TATA or Reliance. So, the only obvious thing to do is get the cheap Nokia 1200. Or wait a few more years .

Re: Budget Mobile Phone
Alright then, Univercell is selling some Motorola models for Rs. 999, go check it out soon. It must be a limited time offer.
Long long ago, a few unknown brands used to sell cell phones for Ultra cheap, don't know if they still exist?!
AFAIK, Motorola and Kyocera are the cheapest brands.
