When will ANdroid be launched? Any Ideas!

I have few questions about Google Android.

1 When will it be launched? Will The Indian launch be simultaneous.
2 If it is Open Source will phones running Android be cheaper then Symbians?
3 What can be the rates of cheapest Android Phones and will the apps for it be as diverse as for windows.

1. Launch not expected in 2008 .It is still under development @nikeel where did u get the date from. And i think by mid 2009 you may see it in india
2. It depends on what the manufacturer decides to do with it like @krazzy said.

The news is all over the web. Though HTC has not officially confirmed that the May 6 event will be a Android based mobile launch, industry insiders are sure that it will be.
