Default Is it ok to wind the Earphone wire ?

I use an earphone to listen to my ipod! Most of the times I wind the earphone wire around the iPod. My friend was telling its not advisable to wind the earphone as it will reduce its quality.. Is it true? What is the solution for this problem? Does this really effect in the long run? My earphone gets entangled if I dont wind it up!

The wire may get damaged/break if you wind the earphone cable.

No reduction in quality.
Man you can yourself hear no difference in winding and unwinding.
( The wires are not carrying high Voltage that will hinder the music signals)

Only care on you part is to handle it well.

the only reason to avoid winding the wire is that it causes un-necessary stress on the wire .... fold them loosely no harm as in let the wir coil itself dont wind it around ur hand or something

instead of winding it, you can fold in spiral manner and you can use the rubber tag to tag it

Winding is not recommended, however; I haven't faced any problem.

You can try putting Fevi-Kwick at the ends namely the plugin point and the ear pieces.

This wont cause any problems as it would avoid stretching of connections when you wind the earphones

Other than damage of tear, i don't think there is any harm in winding.
I prefer you keep it in a case or your sling bag etc.

Earphone wires are usually very thin and delicate. Although they are malleable and ductile, even that has its limits
