Magical msg

I read a msg on my friends mobile phone saying "Neeche mat padho, nahin to mobile band ho jayega"
It was written in hindi.

And when we scroll down the phone actually restarts.
Or even if we click on edit.
How can this be done..and how dangerous is it?

This happen only in nokia. This is because some particular character limit or something like this, where this phone stops responding and restarts.

most phones hav this weakness.there is a certain sequence of character which when entered and sent to the mobile which has weakness for those character sequense will restart the mobile.s60 fones dont hav any weakness of this sort.

if u wanna remove this type of msg all u hav to do is delete the whole inbox.

this is not bullshit. it happens wid nokia handsets only. as assasin said there's a certain character combination which triggers the set. the color phones are not prone to this, btw.

Or before deleting your whole inbox., you can try putting ur sim in some other mobile like samsung or sony and try deleting that message.

The only character i know wich wasnt recognised by nokia old s60 fones os < os7 was the TAB character... never heard of any other characters in any language...

I had once sent this message from my old samsung set to a Nokia 3120 of my friend. And when he tried to edit the message, the phone stopped responding for a moment and then flashed a message and restarted.

I think some unhandled exceptionw are arising when the phone goes through the message, which causes it to restart.

i just wonder how all of you people are not knowing this.. it is a very simple trick which any one can try..

just compose a msg with lots of left single quotation chars(``````````````````) and send it to the victims phone. when the victim tries to scroll down, the phone automatically switches off.

i did it many times to fool my friends.

But the trick does'nt work on all nokia's.

Ya, it doesn't work with non-nokia phones..but since evry 2out of 3 are nokia phones...the penetration of this virus/bug/trick is high.

I have seen this in yahoo messenger but hearing it for the first time for mobile phones !

Like one of my friends send me some characters (do not remember what it was) and told me to click the character to close messenger ! Said it is not virus. I clicked it and the message window as well as yahoo messener itself closed !

Anyway I guess it is some sort of limitation similar.
