Mobiles does not support full memory?

Hi guys one of my friends told me that one should always buy a memory card having less capacity than than the total memory phone supports! Otherwise the phone hangs and/or the full memory doesnt get utilised. Is it true? Also which brand MicroSD card will be preferable? Thanks.

thats not true.. Otherwise u wont even be able to use even 32mb mmcs in most fones... Btw u can get a 1gb micro sd 4 450 bucks.. And 2gb 4 800

yeah for most phones above 1gb support go for half the size allowed i've got a 2gb card for my 5300 but now the music player hangs when trying to shift genres or albums no probs for themes or games

btw 1gb card transcend =800-900;2gb=1500
