Get any laptop & add to it Creative Soundblaster NX external Soundcard

Both Intel Core 2 Duo & AMD Turian support SSE3 which asists a lot when it comes to Audio work.

Ppl say AMD gets hot and stuff like that...Should i go for an HP AMD machine at a lesser price, or should i stick with intel..does it make sense buying a 17" inch screen laptop. and this new model 6575us has come out but with a slower rpm 4200...is it advisable ?

"AMD gets hot"
chuck that man.... thats crap!

for DJing purpose? i suppose a turion x2 64bit is enough for you. try to squeeze in 2gb ram. 17" lappies are a bit cumbursome if u are too frequent a traveller. plus the battery backup reduces. 4200rpm hdd??!!! stay away! don't buy them!!!

but be careful of a 64bit u might not be able to do other normal stuff coz of lack of softwares .... and make sure that the dj-ing softwares have a 64bit version

Turian also runs normal 32bit software. OS & Applications won't be a problem

well, i don't think he'll be installing the 64bit version of any OS or software! they are a rarity now. and i dunno any 64bit DJ software!!! its jus to make him future proof. i jus suggested him to check that the turion is 64bit coz core2duo supporte intel em64t. so he shudn't be devoid of 64bit support if he buys the amd turion.

1) ahem... plz keep questions like those outta this forum!

2) what soundcard do these lappies haf? if its hdaudio, then that enough for casual DJing.. more than enough man.. are you a pro DJ? and will u connect pro DJ equipment to ur laptop? if yes, then get the soundblaster ext. if not then no need. the internal audio card is jus fine...

bro,,its coz my old laptop toshiba satellite had very low sound output, and puttin an external sound card would just be a luxury to that, so i decided to buy a new 1. Yes 6516 has hd audio..yeah, i am a pro Dj..and might be required to connect my laptop to external mixers and stuff.Hows the creative sound card..better than the hdaudio...card

Nope, right now AMD is as good as Intel. First decide which laptop u want to buy then tell the specs & CPU model here. Both from Intel & AMD then only we can say whether AMD CPU is slower then intel or not.

regarding the cpus. yes at the moment core2duo beats the turion x2 in raw tests. but the differnce is not so much noticable if u are not a heavy gamer or 3d software user. so i guess for ur usage turion or core2duo shouldn't make much difference.

I went ahead with 6516tx. Now since its a 160gb hard disk, how do i format and reload windows vista on it...or should i load winxp..r there any complaints with vista ?

yeah, 6575 has been launched in the US, but the backdrop of that is its only 4200rpm..not good enuf...i was confused between 6516tx and 9502au....went ahead with the former coz 9502 wud prove to be very bulky ...

First note the key of Windows Vista installed. If you have a bootable DVD of Vista then boot from it & format the whole HD. Then make a partition of 20 GB for Vista, this should be enough. Make rest of the space as a bit partition.

Don't enter any serial & uncheck the checkbox which says to avtivate when online. Select to install the version which came with your laptop, then install.

Once installed, reboot. Then wait for vista to finish installing & enter the key to activate

Hi Guys!!

I am rather new to buying a laptop. So i visited many websites and forums to get the first hand knowledge. Also i visited local laptop vendors and looked at couple of models.

Finally i shotlisted these 2 models:-

HP dv6516TX
Sony VAIO VGN-FZ15G

But i am really confused to select one among them. Please help me out in this.

I am not a big gamer or something. But would like to play some games and music/movies on it. SONY FZ15 has HDMI port. Does dv6516 has it? I wish to coonect my laptop to LCD TV and 5.1 channel speakers.

Since people in this thread are talking about HP dv6516tx i guess you guys can suggest me. It has Intel Core2 Duo processor T5250. Does this gets heated up quickly? i heard with my friends that this is the biggest drawback of most HP laptops. Also battery backup is low.

One of you have already purchased this model i guess. So how good is it performance wise?

I feel SONY has better picture quality. But its costly. HP support is known to be very good. How about SONY?

The maximum i have used it, so far, is about 5 hrs at a streach and the temperatures it reached are not too high for a laptop. The battery backup however depends on what u r using it for at that time, i have got about an average of 3 to 3.5 hrs backup.

Thanks a lot friends!!!!

I think i will go ahead with 6516.

One more query ....... Reliance Data Card and TV Tuner are promotions by HP or Local vendors??? Have you recieved those? I am put up in Bangalore...Is it given to you on-spot or you have to redeem it from HP site? Finally, are they really giving away such freebies or its just sales spoofing??? whats your experince with Reliance NetConnect (If at all you are using it) !!!!
