Default How to recover wet cell phones?

Most of us must have wet our cellphones to some extent sometime or the other. However what can you dropped a bucket or let it go in the washing machine? Is it recoverable? If you follow the given steps then you might not have to visit a service centre or worse change your phone.

Steps to recover your wet phone:

· Remove the battery and take out the SIM card. It will save you some hassle. Furthermore SIM cards can withstand water reasonably well.

· Use a towel to remove as much water as possible. Do not connect the battery back to the phone!

· Dry your phone: You can do this by leaving it out in the sun, placing the phone on the heat vents of a PC monitor or TV. Do not use blow dryers to remove the moisture. Their heat can damage the circuit boards Leave the phone for drying for atleast 2 days (Yes two days!). While drying, do not try to put the battery back on to check whether it is working, or you might short out some of the electronics.

· You can also use pure alcohol and spray or rinse it on the insides of the phone. Then leave the phone to dry out for 2 days.

· If it still does not work properly the visit your local services centre. Remember water damage will usually void your product warranty.

· Most mobilephones have a sticker which changes color once it’s wet. This is how mobile companies identify water-logged phones. If you can identify this sticker then place a tape on it to prevent it from changing colour.

· Finally even if the service centre cannot help you, then do the inevitable. Buy a new phone. Relax, phones are getting outdated in 2 days anyway

Which place? If you open Mobile to (deep) look out, it automatically void the warranty?

i've seen this sticker on SE batteries. its next to the battery terminals on my w700i's bst35 battery. it changes from white to pink when it becomes wet. afaik the handset as such doesn't haf any visible sticker.
