the net conn doesnt drop frequently ...
its messenger which disconnects.
if 2-3 messengers are on then all of them disconnect within seconds of each other though not always. (i.e if one goes the other stays on.)
as far as yahoo messenger is concern it simply logs me off and the other person gets a message that iinfi has logged off ...

@vishal: where r u based. i m frm navi mumbai !!
r u using ping means wat ?? wat to ping?? i m sry i didnt get u

I'm from U.P.
It seems that u arent using PING command, thats why u r having this problem.
Whenever u connect net, open RUN and type following command:

PING -t 202.138.96.2

It'll help u.
U can also make a shortcut on desktop for this command.

Default Re: Y! Messenger disconnects frequently on Reliance Netconnect

1.) This plan is no longer available for phones but its available for data cards. Existing customers having the unlimited plan (like me) are still enjoying it.
2.) BSNL service is not good here, frequently wire-cut problem and many other problems. So I'm happy with reliance.
3.) Speed is normal. I usually get 10 KBps download speed.
4.) Using PING prevents CDMA phones from going into "Dormancy Mode", whenever there is no data transfer, the phone automatically goes into Dormancy mode so that we can attend the phone calls while running net. But its quite annoying and thats why I use PING command.

@Vishal Gupta:

i m using this pinging of the DNS Servers for a long time now. though it helps in not getting my connection into a dormancy mode, of late (past 2-3 weeks) it doesnt help my messengers from getting disconnected.
i wonder wat the problem is ... even whn i m typing this messenger has disconnected 2-3 times. the bigger trouble is its not jus yahoo which gets signed off ...all other messengers also have the same problem.
whn i signin using meebo.com everything works fine.... but i dont like meebo as i cannot do a voice chat with that or use a webcam.
there u go ... jus now gtalk n eyeball chat got disconnected ... (

@iinfi
Thats strange that only ur IM get disconnected and not the whole internet.
Why not u scan ur computer, may be its a virus problem? Post ur HijackThis logfile and may be we'll get any suspected entry?

Reliance net are reliable (Finally something from Reliance that is reliable).

Have you checked by changing the version of messenger. Try using a stable version instead of a new beta version.
