Airtel offers EDGE in chennai

Is airtel gives E-GPRS in chennai? if so what is the speed?
i am using w700i my speed is around 4-6kbps..

No EDGE in Kolkata. But Mumbai has EDGE. My friend from Aurangabad uses EDGE.

@mkarthu U wont be able to use EDGE even if Airtel offers it cuz ur fone doesnt support EDGE.

No Edge in Kolkata and West Bengal. I live there man. This is confirmed. No doubt. And someone posted that some part of Kolkata has edge towers. Thats ridiculous.

Well one of my friend's brother works for Airtel in kolkata. I even confirmed from him.

Hutch offers EDGE in Punjab earlier to watch LIVE TV shows on EDGE compatible handsets.Don't know did they provide this or not now

In mumbai, both airtel and hutch offer EDGE.

Damnnn...thats more than EDGE.....well i am in Pune and Airtel offers EDGE here..!!

Currently..during day i get speeds of 8-10Kbps Downloads.. and @nite ~20Kbps..downloads

@Crazy Kidd hey i'm from Durgapur in West Bengal and i'm getting D/L speeds of 18-25KB/s normally and 25-32KB/s @ nite.So hows it possible if Airtel doesnt provide EDGE.

^^^ Nokia 5500 Sport doesnt give E sign,its gives two arrows pointing in 2 diff directions just like Nokia 6630.

Are u sure? Airtel does provides EDGE in West Bengal. May be not in ur nearest BST.

i accessed pc internet and also internet in my mobile in both the kolkata area and in the west bengal circle thru mobile ofice...everywhere it shows speed of 460.8kbps----as my mobile(6630)is a 3G phone...so it shows only the maximum sppeed which cud b achieved by my mob not by the airtel mo.....its still sucking 28 kbps max.....at night when i download some movies by some p2p it gives download speed ard19-23KB/s....so its not possible that airtel is giving EDGE in anywhere in WEST BENGAL....thats sure dudes.....when the net got connected neither it shows E sign.....it only shows two half broken arrows in opposite direction.....as in nokia mannual of 6630 it has been clearly written that E sign is 4 EDGE and 3G sign is 4 3G and IT IS 'NETWORK DEPENDANT'

Speeds of 19-23KB/s wont be possible without EDGE.
GPRS Class 10 offers a max speed of 42kbps (5.25KB/s)
EDGE Class 10 offers a max speed of 236.8kbps (29.6KB/s)

Yeah the max speed achievable is dependent on the total no of users at any given time.Also voice calls get higher priority than GPRS/Data Calls.So GPRS speeds r usually better at nite.
