Whats correct method to connect phone to PC?

Can anyone tell me whats the step by step corect method to connect the phone to pc through data cable??
Currently, i switch on the system, plug in the usb cable into usb port and then connect the other end to the phone. and when im finished, i just pull off the cable from the usb first then from the phone. Is it OK?
I use nokia pc suite.

No i had doubt, whether i have to disconnect it first from the pc suite interface etc. or just pull off the cable from the usb port? Will it do any harm to the phone if i just pull off the cable??

KENSHIN I think this icon came only when mass storage device like pen drive, memory card or mp3 player is connected. when I plug my cable nothing happen but a voice came like "TTIIINTTOOO"

yes,when the phone connect via Data Cable using PC Suite Only phone icon on the system tray is green.
I never pull out cable from usb, I unplug the cable from the phone side...is it right?

Well here is d right way to connect n dis-connect ur phone with pc :
First,to connect :
*Start-up ur Nokia PC Suite
*U'll see d programe searching for phone n an grey icon with red cross at taskbar.
*At that time just plug d cable in ur phone n within seconds u r connected

For disconnect:
*It's so simple just un-plug ur cable frm phone n it gts disconnected!

I use this procedure frm last 3 yrs. n didn't gts any problem till now
Just follow these steps n happy connecting
