Creative Zen Vision M or iPod 30GB-URGENT

I have to choose one of these.Problem is that while every dealer has a sample iPod with them,nobody has the creative one.Everyone has a box packed piece.I have seen it only in photographs and not physically.
Please help me take a decision.
I want to know about the following points about Creative Zen vision M wrt an iPod:

1.Ease of use
2.Aesthetics(Does it look as good as the iPod?)
3.Build Quality
4.Sound Quality
5.Reliabilty

Please respond ASAP.

the zen 30gb has definitely got more features than the ipod, but in the sound department, ipod rulez.
also, the zen can play xvid,avi and mpeg files out of the box, dnt need to convert them; while for ipod u gotta convert them to mp4 and mov formats.

and do let us know, what u bought finally. even i waz interested in d zen, but its lack of availability put me off. so finally had to settle for the ipod from the grey market.

Theres a new ZEN, a widescreen version. I dont know whether it is available in the Indian market.

Zen Vision: M has more features while iPod has better sound quality and ease of use. It is up to you to decide which feature you value most. But all things considered, i think Zen Vision: M is better.

Can i use the iPod to store files other than multimedia i.e. can i use it as a portable drive??

Video is not an issue 'cos i would hate to watch a video on such small screen for a long time.

Creative has got a lot of features but i dont know about its support in india.

i too would suggest you go for creative.....
and yes i think you can store other files on your iPod or even the Zen...
Creative has pretty good after sales support in india.

I have decide on an iPod 30 GB.Asked my friend to get it from the US.
Any idea if i would have to pay Customs on it??Either officially or unofficially?

well i think if they find out tht u have an iPod in your luggage you hav to pay customs but if u sum how manage to hide it thn no....

no such thing. you can freely bring in your pod. unless you're intent on bringing 5 - 10 pieces of it, then you'll be charged under the customs.

iPod wins hands down on all the 5 points that u hav mentioned!! Also, there's a common misconception that Apple's service is poor! I'll disagree..

They hav excellent service centres.. Also the toll-free phone support is wonderful! My friend has a faulty USB port on his PC.. when he plugged his iPod into his usb port, it got screwed! He got it freely replaced.. Then, after a couple of months, he dropped it from his bike on the road.. Luckily it didnt hav any external marks.. but stopped working.. He was second time lucky.. Got it replaced freely again!! But u can get free replacements only for the 1st one yr!!

Finally got my hands on the iPod.It looks great.Couldnt transfer any songs though.Got it pretty late..And iTunes was giving some trouble.Will look into the matter today..

I am screwd..Cant see my iPod in iTunes.I was able to see it only once and at that time to it said that "Your iPod might be corrupted"..Whatd o i do now??Is it a problem with my iPod or with my computer????

Try using your iPod on another pc. If it works there, then there is something wrong with your pc. If it doesn't work, try resetting your iPod and then try. Also use latest version of iTunes. Check that the connection is made properly with the pc. Maybe the cable is faulty or the usb port.

It is possible that the iPod was shipped factory formatted for the mac . You may have to reformat it for the PC . Usually when yo plug it in the first tme in ur PC, iTunes asks if you want to reformat it for the PC .
If this didnt happen, try reformatting the ipod with FAT filesystem.
Open it on 'my computer'. right click it and then scroll to format. this should clear you up in order to start from scratch. if you still cannot get it going, post back!

It is formaated for the PC.It shows the file system as FAT,while for space it says n/a.Once it recognised and was updating it from apple site,but it said that the network connection timed out..
Please help me yaar.It has been two days and i havent been able to listen to anything on the iPod.I am totally frustrated...

relax .... hota hai ... first of all installl the latest itunes ... then connect the pod and try updating again u will face the problem of network conx time out i faced it on the 3 ipods i updated so i guess every1 has to go thru it .... reset all settings on the ipod .... and restore it using itunes .... let us know

Thanak God..Took the iPod to a friend's place and it worked fine.So i guess the problem is with my system..Will fix it sometime later this week..Not now..Already tired of banging my head for the past two days..Will keep u posted.

PS:iPod rocks,iTunes sucks!!!

Sujit, I love itunes. Since you didn't like it, you can use winamp with ipod plug-in to copy music to your ipod.

Yes. Absolutely correct. It's meant for ipod(though it was released months before ipod). I am using this for the past 2 years and am addicted to it.

I think that i am going to crash my computer trying to get the stupid itunes to recognise my ipod.its so frustrating when u have to restart the PC n no of times...
