Cool Motokrzr?

It’s been about nine months since Amp’d Mobile has announced a handset, but the carrier finally has a new phone that’s hip enough to match its edgy content. Featuring a signature pearl gray finish, this RAZR feels a bit dated compared to the new MOTOKRZR, but it’s certainly a step up in the style department when compared to the chunkier Motorola Hollywood. More important, this device taps into a world of mobile content designed to keep 18 to 34 year olds glued to the small screen, from Comedy Central and Break TV to Playboy Mobile.
this special edition of the RAZR was enhanced to deliver turbo speed downloads using Amp’d Mobile’s EV-DO network. Streaming videos didnÍt take long to buffer and looked smooth, especially, when we tuned in a South Park clip of Mr. Mackay lecturing the boys on the seriousness of taking a "dookie in the urinal." The speaker was also quite loud. On the other hand, it still takes a while for Amp’d Mobile’s slick menu screens to load, sometimes as long as 15 seconds after making a selection.

For a limited time, Amp’d is including a premium audio entertainment pack with purchase. This includes an in-ear headset and a 256MB microSD card. This RAZR can accept cards up to 1GB, enough for about 500 songs. Other phones like the Chocolate can go up to 2GB, but at least Amp’d charges less than Sprint or Verizon for over-the-air downloads: 99 cents per track vs. $2.49 and $1.99, respectively.

You can also fill that card with cutting-edge games, like 2006 fifa world cup and Call of Duty 2. The large D-pad made it easy maneuver characters but the flat dialpad made it tough to make more complex moves without looking.

Other features include a 1.3-MP camera, Bluetooth (not stereo), text and picture messaging, speakerphone, and built-in mini-USB wth mass storage capacity. Overall, this special edition doesn’t feel all that special, but it’s certainly the best phone yet in the Amp’d lineup.

To snatch up this RAZR, you’ll pay $99 for the phone when you opt for the Feature Plan package with contract, or $199 (after mail-in rebate) when you opt for an Amp’d Pay-As-You-Go or Hybrid pricing plan.
