Well while incoming calls sometimes mobile's circuits spark inside. That might cause of blast because the fuel station is srounded by petrolium gas.

Is the reason of overheating and explosion of batteries. It happens rarely but still "Prevention is better than cure".

@tech_mastermind: His condition depends whether the phone was in his front pocket or back pocket

Re: Why is it dangerous to use mobile phones at fuel stations?
I think mobiles bursting into fire is a very very rare possibility!
ANyways, now really no one cares to switch off thier phones at fueling stations, rather ppl sometimes use the break to make brief calls, and thankfully nothing unfortunate has happened till now!

Re: Why is it dangerous to use mobile phones at fuel stations?
well it all depends on what u use ur fone for .... there is nothing that cannot be made destructive .... i dont know if ne 1 had seen but there were pics where a dell laotop just exploded in an exhibition .... in front of the media .... the guy using it was lucky he wasnt using the laptop on his lap else .... he would have missed out on the good things of life

Re: Why is it dangerous to use mobile phones at fuel stations?
Hi
I do not use my phone in fuel stations. But the thing about the sparks is not true. It arouses a question..... Why the hell (I don't know the correct spelling so edit it) veicles are allowed?
There is a spark plug and a posiibility of that spark making contact with surroundings. There are posibillities of spark due to heat generated by the engine. But this never happens that a fuel station bursts because of veicles.
So the reason is not the sparks that can occur in cellphones. It must be something else.
Aditya

Re: Why is it dangerous to use mobile phones at fuel stations?
There is no need to switch off the mobiles but being on calls is not accepted.
