Maximum Memory card size for N 6630
Hi Guys,
I have a Nokia 6630 with a 256 MB card currently. My friend who owns a SE W800i uses a 1 GB memory card. He is planning to upgrade it to a 2GB memory card. He suggests that even I can do the same since both the phones have an almost similarily fast processor. Is it possible to use a 2 GB RS - MMC card on my Nokia 6630 phone ? or will it have many more problems than advantages ? Kindly suggest.

Nokia care personnel told me not 2 use more then 512 mb card in 6630,otherwise it can degrade d performance.

Yes, 512 MB it is. Anything more than that and your cell is likely to crawl and behave funnily.

Well i bought 1 worth Rs 1100 here from an original showroom in Cal. I wanted to go for 1 gb but the dealer said that it wud degrade the performance and that the fone wud hang quite a lot. Dont go for 1 gb for 6630. Get a 512 MB card.U cud get them from any mobile showroom.

i think 1gb have no probs . my friend is using it . But if you are not sure about this go for a 512mb card

Well .. a friend uses a 1 GB DVRS MMC card with his 6630 and i don't see any dip in performance .. the phone is face enough .. hell ... all those phones (6630 , 6680 etc.) can use 1 GB for sure ....

i run a rs 1gb card on my ngage qd it has not hanged till now and the guy told it can run upto 2 gb so dont worry jus go for 1 gb widout fear and u have any problems then get it flashed(i.e. updated)

Maxmimum memmory supported by nokia 6630 is 1 GB.Using 1 gb on nokia 6630 doesnot degrade performance like nokia 6600,it may be noted that it is recommended to format your card using computer (FAT Filesystem) by connecting your dv-rsmmc card by a card writer.

in the worst case scenario your phone may hang.... so what just remove the MMC and restart... and later on format it... i even feel that 1GB is less space on my QD... also try out a 2GB if u can...

i was using 1gb card in 6630 from "memking" and it cost me around 1700 few months back
havnt seen any bad perfomance of 6630,
bad perfomance also depends on other factors ie the startup applications,
low disk space ,antivirus installed etc
go for 1gb if u can afford it....6630 wont give a single problem !
Ps, dont know the current rate of 1gb card as i dont own 6630 anymore,the rate is some 3-4months old

PS : the cards come with DOA warranty ie. if u purchase it and it dont work;
u can get it replaced within 2-3 days So preferably take ur phone to the market and check the card on the spot.

Fine i got a 1Gb card for my 6681 in hyd here from jagdish market., costed me 1200 for NCP brand
Well it shows total size as 980 Mb instead of 1000Mb or 1024Mb .. is it ok ?

it's ok
all 1gb cards will show formatted capacities between 980 to 987 mb,
depending on the brand of the cards. costlier brands like kodak, transcend
etc will show higher capacities (most probably as not confirmed on ALL brands).
do not worry.
