I am not sayin that .. but people take it as something ki .. it will add some new software or feature to phone .. thats not the case.
in his case he got a new phone .. if its working fine there is no need for that. isnt it.
I get my ph updated .. only If i get time .. which will not be soon.

No Offence To Above Moble Geeks .if You Dont Know What Is Firmware Then Dont Speak About It.
Firmware-it A Virtual Host Environment Used On Series (60,70,90....)
And Many Symbian Based Cell Phones

It Can Be Easily Upgraded By Using Just Your Data Cable ,and A Software Named Phoneix(with The Mobile Firmare ) Which Can Be Easily Fetched Online

@ montsa007

Firmware can DEFINATELY be upgraded at home... i had moto E398 and i had upgraded it firmware at home only .. and it does not need separate hardware jus a USB cable, some software and the firmware ... Thats all !!!

Some info I found on updating Nokia cell phones
What I need :

Drivers
FLS-4 Drivers

Software
PhoenixBlackBox_v7.0
Phoenix
Wintesla

Installation Steps :

Drivers
Run FLS4207.Drivers with PBB2 not connected.
PowerOn Your PBB2 ( I used 7.5v and -(°+ Polarity. )
Insert USBCable ( male-male ) on PC and then in PBB2
System will start searching drivers for installation... let system do that for You
wait ... there are some drivers to install, so be patient.
when complete system will tell You new hardware is ready.
Now You can start BlackBoxTool and see how Your PPB2 is configured.
Now You can "GO Support" and download what You need.
Note: - PBB2 here stands for Phoenix Black Box 2.

<snip> anything ahead will be illegal

this shows that just USB cable isn't enough.
I am not a expert or something at this. Can anyone who has more knowledge give more information.

BTW, I can't show the source as it is an illegal link.

PBB2 is box that is used to flash nokia and other phones. It costs few hundred USD.
But if u hv a Nokia BB5(3250,6630,6680,6681,N70...) u can update the firmware with the supplied dku-2 or ca-53 cable.heres the link http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=913725

Hmm thanks mayhem.
I don't really know much about this but I'd like to know more on this topic. Let's see what more info I can collect.
So, it seems it is possible but you should be careful or you will have a very expensive piece of brick in your hand.
