I think your mobile's firmware got corrupted, Now the solution is to go to the nerest Nokia Care Center and say them to flash the latest version of firmware in your mobile. If your mobile is in warranty then no charges will apply.

I think vishal's right I had a similar problem with my 6610 a while back and I had to get it flashed at the nokia care centre. It was done for free as my cell was still under warranty. But, doing that you'll loose all your data if it isn't backed up. And if your cell is not under warranty then it might cost around about 600-800(that was the cost of 6610 dunno about 6600).

How to reset/reformat a phone
It may happens that a program corrupts the C: drive of your phone. In such case, some data can be lost of course but, more annoying, some applications may not work or work only partially,...
On a Series 60 based phone, two key sequences will allow to restore your phone to a cleaner state:
Normal Reset (*#7780#) : Restores ini files from rom but preserves user data (photos, 3rd party apps etc)
Deep Reset (*#7370#) : This reformats completely the C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten.
In both case, the phone will ask you a confirmation and you will have to enter a security code (12345 by default).
Files and applications stored on E: drive are not be affected by these sequences.

thanx friends. but since my fon boots only upto the 'nokia' logo, i think i will have to try the 'full format' option only. am i correct ? in this case will i lose my data on c only or even the card memory ???
and if that dznt work, then i will go to a nokia carecentre. since i am leaving town, and going to goa for a few days, i guess i will have to search for a nokia centre there.
