iPod touch still worth a buy?
Hey there everyone.
I was thinking of purchasing an Apple iPod Touch 4 gen 32 GB variant. But however now I am stuck by a serious question that :
The iPod Touch costs about 19 K. But the fact is at the same time many much better mobile phones are available in the market for the same or even at times lesser price which at times can offer almost same sort of PMP experience (plus you also have 3G support in them to stay connected always).
So.... in nutshell, my question is
"IS THE IPOD TOUCH STILL WORTH A BUY WHEN YOU HAVE MOBILE PHONES POSSESSING SIMILAR OR BETTER SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE SAME OR LESS PRICE AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET?"

Re: iPod touch still worth a buy?
Well yes but you won't get similar audio quality ( As a PMP Ipod touch sound quality is just average but still much better than most phones)
Add 8k and get an Xperia S or add 10k and get Iphone 4. Or if you could find it, Nexus S is also a good option and also cheaper than Ipod Touch.
These are some of the better sounding smartphones in the market and close to Ipod touch overall.

@the tech freak maybe ur right. Coz i can ignore 3g connectivity..
@randomuser111 I agree with with you but the problem is that i am purchasing ipod primaryly for watching movies on the go but not for its superior sound quality...

Re: iPod touch still worth a buy?
If you only want it for movies, then it is definitely worth it!! (Coming from a proud Ipod Touch 4 owner
)
For me personally, a tablet would be too bulky to lug around. The ipod touch fits snugly on my palm and I could easily watch a full movie on a bus/train journey without getting uncomfortable.
Ipod wins in terms of Ergonomics, screen quality, touch sensitivity and audio quality(I know it is not the best for an audiophile but it still great for the layman who only listens to MP3 quality audio).
It loses only in terms of 3G and H/W performance(While it can play all apps made for the iphone, it lags a wee bit in graphics intensive games like Infinity Blade 2 and Mass Effect)"Forget peace for now. We have to show them we are strong" - Prime Minister Golda Meir ( from the film "Munich")

Re: iPod touch still worth a buy?
But IMO a reasonably powerful android phone will suffice for most people. iPod is good if you are ready to carry around more than a cell phone while you go out.

Re: iPod touch still worth a buy?
This fall. If it does not happen this fall, then it might happen next year in april/may. So I'd suggest to wait till this fall.
Edit: I'd want to warn you though. The accessories for Apple do not come cheap. For instance, the HDMI adapter comes for 2.5K. And the iPod itself comes with zero accessories.
How? I have the release version of the game. Do I need to update it?It never lagged for me as I have played both IB & IB 2
Mind u the down clocked 800Mhz proccy of Ipod works like 1Ghz proccyLast edited by warfreak; 25-07-2012 at 09:36 AM.

It's totally worth it.
But, IMHO, Movie watching experience on a 7-inch Nexus 7t will be 2x better.

Re: iPod touch still worth a buy?
Not at all... If you have a good enough cell phone buy a tablet.. if you don't, sell your cell phone and with that money + the money you are planning to spend on ipod, get a high end phone. Ipod touch is not worth that much money. there are better phones that cost similar or less that are better for watching video and no.. ipod touch is not the best in sound quality. there are many androids today which are better than ipod and iphone in terms of sound quality.

Re: iPod touch still worth a buy?
Completely agree with Ujjwal321. Dont go for a 3.5inch device is you primarily want to watch movies . Go for atleast 4.3 inches . Try using them , you would seriously feel the 3.5inch is miniscule . I would recommend you go for S2\xperia S if you have a flexible budget , those phones are much more powerful than the itouch too , also do think if 32gb will be enough for you coz you cant put microsds into an itouch.
And apple products having better touch sensitivity than samsung\sony\htc is a complete farce . I have myself tested all side by side in different tasks and there is absolutely no difference whatsoever .Samsung Series 5 NP550P|HTC One X(AOKP 4.2.2)|iPad Mini 16gb|Klipsch Image S4i|Klipsch Image x10|Xbox 360|Logitech g400

Re: iPod touch still worth a buy?
don't buy a tablet. I am typing this from my ipad 2 and my ipod classic is better than ipad in SQ, i'm sure of it. If you want to enjoy the os then go for ipod touch else ipod classic is also a good option. I will also remind you that till date only samsung galaxy series(the original gs)and iphones have matched the SQs of daps and pmps. You could give it a try but don't expect too much from a cellphone.
If by chance, you buy ipad, And want to enjoy lots of media, make sure you have lots of memory(at least 32gb model is recommended). Apps take a lot of space.Last edited by akkib89; 31-07-2012 at 03:04 PM.

My experience is somewhat different.
I find sound quality of my ipad2 is much better than the 3rd gen ipod touch and the ipod classic is definitely worst of the lot(not the awesome 5th gen classic though!)Macbook Air 11"2011,Iphone 4S 16GB,Ipad2,Sennheiser HD-25 1-II,HD650,FiiO(E11,E17...yeh! I know!I need an upgrade)

Re: iPod touch still worth a buy?
Thats good for you, but whenever I give my silverbullets a trial on both one by one I always feel that ipad2 could have done so much better but failed. Do you use any equalizer app or just the default music player. I have still not found a better free music player than the stock. The only other player I use is aceplayer.
Cowon z2 is to name one but other than its good SQ output it is practically useless. The experience you get from ipod touch is undefeatable.HP Pavillion a6330in Desktop. Intel pentium Dual Core. HP dv6 Laptop in trash. [Going for Samsung NP550 Series]. Apple Ipad 2 3g 16gb. Apple iPod Classic 6th gen 160gb. Sansa Clip+ 4gb. Fischer Audio Silver Bullets. DBA-02. Panasonic HJE120. Nope!Just the stock player and IE8/7 or SM3.
Equaliser set to flat.
Occasionally use the Eq app in 4s,but it is a major battery drainer.Macbook Air 11"2011,Iphone 4S 16GB,Ipad2,Sennheiser HD-25 1-II,HD650,FiiO(E11,E17...yeh! I know!I need an upgrade)
