Improving GPRS Speed + Using Nokia 6021 with iBook

Hey frends,
I just bought a Nokia 6021. BT and EDGE. It promises internet speed upto 176 kbps. I am using airtel mobile office. I manage to get a mere 3 KBps and I am not happy with it. I guess it should be at least 10 KBps for an EDGE phone. Well higher Nokia models promise much higer speeds but 3 KBps is too slow.
Are there any tweaks or softwares available to improve the speed?

I have an Apple iBook. How do I configure GPRS on iBook? There are no drivers for Mac on Nokia website.
i plan to install Zone alarm and Ad Aware SE on my Windows PC. Will it increase/decrease the net speed?

i get upto 6Kbps on my mobile with Airtel Moblie Office. Mines a Motorola e398 phone. just Gprs not EDGE.

Monster_AMD, It appears that your fone has Edge but the network is not supporting it.
Call AirTel Customercare .. ask them whether they have Edge
Bcoz it must be supported by the network provider.

well to use tweking software i tell u to use

tweakmaster which increased my airtel gprs speed from 2 KB/s to 5KB/s

for the EDGE query your ntetwrok must support this
as far as here the airtel service is concerned they do not provide EDGE

well it will decrease ur net speed but only .4 to .3 KB/s will be decreased and not more

BUT Security is first after Speed

Even GPRS supports a max of 17.3 KB/s speed
but for this u need to get all the time slots

generally we are priovided with two time slots so we have only speeds of 4-5 KB/s
