Lumia 701

I am seriously considering to buy lumia 701. It appears it lacks gyroscope. What exactly does a gyroscope do?

Samsung Omnia W is slightly better choice because it has a Front Facing Camera which could be useful incase you are interested in Video chat. Also, Omnia W has Super Amoled screen as opposed to Clear Black LCD screen on Lumia 710...

Also, Omnia W is made of Aluminium, as opposed to plastic on the Lumia 710...

it doesnt exactly say what gyroscope does, and what happens if we dont have it. It just says, gyroscope helps in determining 6 plane motion. Whats a 6 plane motion.

By the way, can we download files in wp7, like zip files which contain mp3 and videos and extract and play?

its Lumia 710 i guess.... Nokia 701 is another device having Symbian belle OS

gyro is like an orientation sensor thr in ur phone...

gyroscope and accelerometer have similar functions..
for sensing screen orientation/ motion based gaming etc..

but gyroscope functions slightly better. Lumia has accelerometer.. it will also work, but omnia w has gyroscope and accelerometer, if i'm not mistaken.

having been using that phone (Lumia 710) for more than a month...really loving it...its a great phone, even better after the price cuts..you can get it for Rs14,600 now..
