Actually the available memory for use is always lesser then the memory quoted in the package. Its just like the computer hard disk eg: If you take a 40GB HDD and format it, the usable space is 37.2GB. The extra 2.8GB is not usable. Even the 32mb MMC i got with my 6600 has a usable uncompressed space of 30mb.

They use a slightly different cobversion which is why you get lesser than the advertized amount of memory. FOr example, they will use 1MB = 1000KB instead of 1024KB. Hence for them, 128MB = 128*1000KB. But when you use the card, it shows up as 122MB because that is the actual capacity.
