budget: under 1000
it should have good bass!

Dude go for Creative EP 630
You won't get anything better at this price range.
It will cost you less than Rs 800

Can order from ebay also they are selling for around 750 or something.

Get Soundmagic PL21 or PL30. Much much better than shitty EP-630. Also check Sony MDR-EX50LP.

If you only want bass then Creative EP 830 .

I own EP630.
Sound amplification is awesome.
Bass is superb.
Due to vacuum created by it Noise Reduction is proficient.
But dude it lags behinds when it comes to Surround sound.
Plus it sounds irritating in comparatively poor music quality often when you listen to heavy metal music.

So make your own decision in this range it gives satisfactory performance.

Not exactly related, but i have a similar need. How would you rate a Soundmagic PL30 vs PL50? Its almost double the price, but is it worth it? And is there any alternative to PL50 in the same range?
