I bought a Samsung Galaxy Ace a few days ago. Installed Kies on my PC on Connecting device it gave message that a new firmware is available for the phone. Is it advisable to upgrade this way. Will the upgrade delete all data on the phone . Please advise.

Just to be on the safe side, sync your phone via Kies. Your data will be safe. After upgrade, sync again and all the data will be back...

My most important data are my contacts and calender entries, which are in the Google cloud. So, I don't worry much about them. Maybe I might be able to backup all pics also into Picasa... But I haven't tried it yet...

Cheers!
