    @ax3..................,7.1 looks good,batter life is better with 7.1.0.523 for 9900.

    But,basically no huge difference with 7.0,I've not tried NFC,Hot-spot & other features,

    I'm with Airtel pre-paid,where there is no 3G for prepaid (I'm with weekly Rs.100 BIS plan)

    U r right,all bbs should get update!

    (PS: I've changed my BB9900 from black to 'white')

    More to come................!

    If you want to check your mail from Wi-Fi without a data plan, use Logicmail.

    It's totally free and open sourced. (From Sourceforge.net)

    It's not only for Gmail, you can also used it for other mail accounts.

    Thus, you can receive and send mail by Wi-Fi without a data plan

    Let's see how?

    1) Google "Logicmail", download and install it. (From Sourceforge.net)

    2) Enable IMAP in Gmail:

    - Sign in to Gmail.

    - Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.

    - Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.

    - Select Enable IMAP.

    - Configure your IMAP client and click Save Changes.

    3) Open Logicmail in BB and configure settings like that: (For gmail accounts)

    Protocol: IMAP

    Incoming server: imap.gmail.com

    SSL - checked

    Port: 993

    Use MDS Proxy - not checked

    Outgoing

    Server: smtp.gmail.com

    SSL - checked

    Port: 465

    Authentication: Plain

    Use MDS Proxy - not checked

    4) Open LogicMail - Global settings and check Wifi mode: Always

    5) Check BB Wi-Fi mode is connected.

    6) Open Logicmail and click your account name! That's it!

    7) Fin!

    On the other hand; There are several programs you can use like that;

    FREE WiFi Apps that work without a DATA PLAN! (Thanks for sonni_kuba for the list)

    Google Mobile Mail ----> Logicmail

    Google Mobile Maps ----> Mobile GMaps (MGMaps)

    others;

    News Reader - AP Mobile

    Online Radio - Flycast Radio Pandora

    Instant Messenger - Palringo or Instango

    Fast HTML Browser - Opera Mini

    Weather Update - BBWeather

    App Store - App Store"

    Enjoy!

    Hi,

    I've a few queries regarding Blackberry Plans :

    a) Can we browse Web via Opera Browser without activating BIS?

    b) Do we need to activate BB Social Plan for accessing FB & Twitter via Opera Browser?

    c) Please name those stock Apps/Services that requires BIS to work.

    d) Is BB App World accessible without BIS?

    Regards.
