3G on LG optimus One [TataDOCOMO] Speed Test
Normally I should get the 3G symbol on the status bar But I'm also getting an" H"
So what's the H
I have attached the thumbnails with Speed test app
 
Also I got 3GB free 3G data for a 3month validity "  woot"
I'm lovin it now!

3.5G is nothing but more speed .
Corret me if i am wrong , 3g = 3.6mbps , 3.5G = 7.2 to 10.1 mbps

Yup I guess 3.5G = HSUPA which is upto 21mbps. Correct me too if I'm wrong 
BTW looks like need to try out Docomo.

I am in karnataka.
Today I got another message saying that as a promotional offer they have given me 3hours of free mobile tv viewing with 20 channles. However this required me to download their application which is utter crap cause it does not play any tv stream etc

As I said tata docomo. below is the link for the free offer
Click on the tab called pre pay offer
Take note that I don't have Ideos but Lg optimus one. Guess they only look for Android OS

use that handset on tata docomo network wherever. our better fill the small 3g info form on their website. or click on any tata docomo adds in your android phone.

I think it's -
Edit
384 kbps - 3G
3.6 mbps to 14.4 mbps - 3.5G/"H"
onwards (upto 84 mbps ) - HSPA+

I got (almost) the same test results - 2.4 mbps

You know if proper convention is followed , 384 kbps is Edge and I think till 3.6 mbps is 3G.

^^^ Take a look at this phones specs
Nokia 2730 Classic - GSMArena.com
And try to surf net with
* 3G on the top (status bar) and
* "H" or 3.5G on top
you will feel the difference yourself
It's same as "G" and "E".

well on my phone when there is no data traffic, the status bar shows 3g. but, when the data is being sent or received, the symbol changes to H.

One more question , Say I am on a 2G plan of Airtel . And my mobile catches 3G . When i surf the net it changes to 3.5G .
Am i getting better speeds ?

Yes , It shows 3.5G while surfing if i select Network as " Dual Mode"
It shows E while surfing if i select network as " GSM "
