Nokia Announces the X7 and E6 Along With the Symbian Update Called Anna

The X7 has an AMOLED screen encased in Gorilla Glass and is powered by a 680 MHz ARM 11 processor and a Broadcom BCM2727 GPU to give a boost to the graphics. Here are the specifications of the X7:

4-inch touchscreen with 16M colours and 360 x 640 pixels resolution
3G, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS
Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP
8 Megapixel camera with fixed focus and Dual LED flash
3.5 mm audio jack
Stereo FM with RDS
Memory expandable up to 32 GB




The E6 is a business handset that has both a QWERTY keypad and a touchscreen for inputs. The smartphone also has a pre-installed JoikuSpot Premium app which lets you use the handset as a Wi-Fi hotspot. A look under the E6’s hood shows the following specifications:

2.4-inch TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels
3G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, GPS with A-GPS
Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP
8 Megapixel camera with fixed focus and Dual LED flash
Secondary camera
3.5 mm audio jack
Memory expandable up to 32 GB

Both these smartphones will be running on Symbian Anna OS and all the older Symbian^3 models like the N8 and E7 should be getting an over the air update soon. The X7 is priced at $550 (approx Rs. 24,500) and the E6 should set you back by $500 (approx Rs. 22,200).

I loved the design of X7.........looks awesome...but the specs are not impressive.

^^ For running symbian on 360 x 640 pixels resolution, the hardware is good enough. Personal opinion, but i didnt like the design too much. Its ambitious and fresh, but not to my tastes.

X7 looked shoddy in earlier pics but in videos, it looks stunning. Had Nokia put W7 on it and released this month, it would create wonders to their sales charts. E6 looks like good evolution from E5 with new OS and capacitive touch.

everyone is launching phones with 1 ghz /dual core cpu and nokia is still with 500-600 mhz phones.

ARM A8 architecture is newer and better than A11. Above link shows the performance difference.

single core 500-800Mhz SOC are ok for Symbian. what they need more is ram. 128Mb ram is joke when you compare to Atrix's 1Gb. also dedicated GPU help them a bit.
