Default Nokai 3230 or the LG T5100

I wnat to buy a mobile with a 1.3MP camera and 1H video recording capability, and bluetooth.

My budget is 15K.I was thinking about LG T5100 or Nokia 3230 & maybe a Nokia 7210.(If you guys have any other model at this price range better than the above mentioned phones do tell)

But the LG T5100 does not have bluetooth capability,it has IR,so will i be able to transfer audio & video files from my copmputer to mobile.

The Nokia 3230 however has the above mentioned specifications.(I am not too sure of the 1H video recording so if anyone enlighten me on this.)
And also is the Nokia 3230 an old phone, when was it released.

Nokia 3230 man.. it's better than 5100. LG phones are good for low budget alone... Read my review in this section (for link refer the sticky topic; 3230).

OK,then.....

I have a few doubts about the video recording feature on the Nokia 3230.

It says on te website that it has a recording capability of 1 hour, but my local dealer said that it can record video only upto 5 minutes because of the 32MB card??????

What is the deal with that????I mean talk about wrong info on the Nokia website.

Then i found out that the memory is expandable to 1 hour.So do i need to replace the 32MB memory to 64MB or a 256MB memory.

How much does it cost to replace the current memory

32MB to 64MB
32MB to 256MB,

or rather to make the mobile to record video for an 1 hour.

P.S---I lost my password ,how do i recover my password, for my previous username.

The 1 hour recording depends upon the MMC.
If u want to record 1 hour clip, then u hv to expand the memory of ur phone.
I'm giving here an Idea of the prices of various MMC:

128mb card : rs.750 - rs.900
256mb card : rs.1100 - rs.1300
512mb card : rs.2200 - rs.2800 (depending on company)
1gb card : rs.3600 - rs.4200

I'll recommend these companies of the mmc cards :

expansys : 128, 256
kingston : 128
kingmax : 128, 256
NCP : 128, 256, 512
SANDISK : 128, 256, 512

All these r trusted companies which give u proper warranties, do not buy others as they r not reliable n r very locally available.

So what is the recording capacity of a 128MB memory card, and a 256MB memory card.

I also read somewhere that,Use of MMC card of a standard size not possible .(If i am not mistaken MMC stands for a Multi Media Card right)Will is pose any problems for the users.

Recording capacity depends upon the file format.
A 10 secs video takes the same amount of memory in each n every phone depending on the format, coz format in nokia phones is the same, therefore the memory is also same, but ofcourse it depends on the quality settings which u choose.
The memory consumed is 150kb (approx.) for 10 secs video.

And MMC is used for Memory cards not for Multi Media cards...

OK Thx mate.

I read this in a random review site for Nokia 3230.Use of MMC card of a standard size not possible, what does this mean?is it gonna pose any problems with the phone or the user in the future?

To transfer the multimedia files i need a Bluetooth connector right,so how much does the bluetooth connector cost.

Finally,i have another question.I hope you don't mind.

Actually my mind is made up on nokia 3230,but i could not resist giving the Samsung SGH-D500 a look.

Which would you recommend a Nokia 3230 or a Samsung SGH-D500.

My dealer told me that the Samsung SGH-D500 has a recording capacity of 1H.(I don,t know if i need to put another memory card cause my dealer did not mention it.)

In the Digit magazine also gave a nice review on samsung SGH-D500 it,a 96MB memory, which is mot expandable.

you need to use reduced size MMC (rs-mmc) cards in nokia 3230, which i think at the moment are a bit costlier than normal mmc cards.

RS-MMC cards are exactly half in size of normal MMC cards and can be read in any cardreader using the rs-mmc to mmc adapter.

D500 doesnt have the option to expand memory but its sound system is better than 3230.

I bought N3230 after considering all these coz the availability of applications for N3230 is huge.
