Basic Mobile for Net Purpose.

I've a 'Dell Inspario 15' lappy n Docomo conn. having net activated on it.
I want a decent phone just 4 net purpose.
It may b frm any gud brand but prefered ones r frm - SE,Nokia n Samsung.
It shud av gud battery lyf n shud b compatiable vid lappy.
My budget is upto 2K to 2.5k , Bt can b extended strictely upto 3K only.

In that budget, you'll get only a GPRS handset. If you plan to get a 3G connection later, you'll have to buy another phone.

Get a phone which supports USB-charging. This is crucial because tethering drains too much battery.

Avoid Nokia because Nokia phones do not have USB charging. Get a low-end Samsung.

Alternatively, you could buy those USB dongles (available from brands like Micromax & Beetel) & put you sim-card int it, if you don't plan to use it for calling.

If you want a future proof solution (with 3G), you can get the SE Cedar for 5k. which supports HSDPA upto 7.2 Mbps OR the Nokia C3 for WiFi.

Okay , Do u knw any Samsung phone in dis category? N does those usb dongles r gud alt. 4 phone , wht's r their prons n cons n hw much they cost?

Huewei UMG1831 @ Rs 2500 - 2700.

Supports upto 21mbps 3G.

pros - No Battery, Cheaper etc
cons - Not a phone.

Any Metro or Guru series phone should do. But as I said it is better to get a USB dongle as it supports 3G too (if you upgrade later) & doesn't require extra battery. Also it is convenient as compared to connecting a cable to a phone.

3G speed comes with unpleasing price tag...
If this isn't a problem surely go for USB dongle...

Otherwise phones suggested by paul would serve you well, atleast for browsing (not downloading stuff)
