The Wave 525 lacks 3G. So if your friend can live without it, then its a good buy.

I'll suggest Nokia C5.

If touch screen is mandatory and texting is on heavy side its better to go for Samsung Wave 533, feature-wise it's same as Wave 525 but with a added QWERTY keypad and price increment of 1k.

Otherwise consider Nokia c5 (small screen) or Sony Ericsson Zylo (no 3.5 mm audio jack)

to keep the price low. cause if they add 3G, price may rise as high as 12k. almost same as Galaxy 551. & at that price, most will go for Android rather than some BADA.

Nokia C5 and X3 is the best. If you need touchscreen and almost every feature then go for Samsung mobiles at this range. But you have to cmpromise the 3G connectivity.

for around 8k, the top 3 picks from my side:
1. Samsung Wave 533 (no 3G but slide out QWERTY)
2. Samsung Wave 575 (cause of 3G)
3. Samsung S5620 Monte (if you hate the wave mobile looks & name).

yes the nokia are always there. but i feel its time to let them rest.

If u wang 3g, then get what sam and raj both stated wave575 or galaxy5 if u can do with a small screen. 3g connectivity if nt required then ur choice wave 525 is good.

Why not get the Galaxy 5 for 500 bucks more ? Its much better than the 575 anyways.

and also in nokia there is
nokia 5235 - with 2 MP does not has the best camera just a decent one. pretty good with other features and battery.

I do not like X3 build and it does not has 3G
and if you value for longer use then I wont consider samsung wave phones with bada OS,

and +1 for galaxy 5, better go for it(and its ultra rich features) rather than thinking about its 2 MP camera
