Default Frustrated with AIRTEL + NOKIA + everything else + myself...

Frustrated with AIRTEL + NOKIA + everything else + myself...!!!

Respected dear fellow members and honourable geeks,

My life is messed up with this airtel mobile office Rs 249 and Nokia 6610i...

REASON...

1. Unable to access internet on computer through it.

2. Unable to get help from 4777 (Supposedely Airtel Mobile Office Customer Care) from last 7-8 days.

3. Tried everything possible from my side.

WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING...

a. I downloaded and installed first the Nokia Cable Connectivity driver.

b. Also downloaded PC suite software and installed.

c. Got my airtel settings done from airtel people by visiting their service centre (dont what centre it is but airtel is having a big showroom where i went) to City Centre, Saltlake, Kolkata.

d. It shows google home page on mobile phone when pressed I but not able to access internet through it on computer.

WHAT I THINK:

a. The screenshoot of the process where I am facing problem is attached herewith...

Actually after pressing next on this screen (of course after attaching cable to computer and phone)...there is nothing happening...

WHAT I WANT:

I humbly and most sincerely request some knowledgeable forum member to please assist me if he/she feels that there is some way out or any hint as to what i should be doing.

AGAIN I must thank for reading this long story of mine and may be possibly helping...

Thanks again

Bets regards to everyone...

Cheers

sunando

Hopefully ur using win xp.I faced the same problem.
when this step comes cancel it.
restart ur system.
then connect the data cable
then connect ur phone.
right click on the icon in ur sytem tray and click on manage connections.
click on the cable type ur using.if its dku5 it should show something like port 1 on nokia connectivity cable adapter.
then select it and wait for abt a minute.
ur phone will be connected.
btw this is for a 3220.
dont know if it will work for all phones.
u can also try to restart ur phone if the connection isnt established in a minute.

Airtel sucks big time!!!! If u wanna buy a new number frm them ... they'll pester u so much that u'll wanna change ur home (d same way r pvt banks do!). But if u got ne complaints ... NO ONE HEARS!!!

I too got my airtel conection disconnected and opted for a Hutch connection wid GPRS. Its much much much better than Airtel ...

Neways .... u shud visit d nokia showrooms which can guide u better off!

sincereheart,

firstly, just chill out .. your quite freaked right now.

now, i think the problem must be your DKU5 cable.
There are a lot of spurious DKU5 cables in indian/asian market.
So, its possible that the cable you have in hand could be a Prolific2303 cable.
I had a similar problem earlier.

Check one thing,
Connect the cable to PC and the phone,
Open "Device Manager" and
See in Ports ... does it show a new port named "Port 1 on Nokia Adapter" along with COM1,COM2 and LTP ports

Also, Open your registry using "regedit" command
Then go throgh to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
+ CurrentControlSet
++ Enum
+++ USB

If in "USB" you have an entry: "Vid_067b&Pid_2303" then you may have a Prolific cable.
(I think the 2303 part is what is important)
