Digital camera not SLR with remote control or shutter release cable function ??

Hi

I am planning to scan books by following method.

Pls suggest me compact digital camera which must have some way of triggering it remotely as said in article.. ie remote control or shutter release cable


1 D-SLR digital cams are out of my budget.
2 And its hard for me to make any manual remote controll or shutter release cable.
