Cellphone For my dad

my dad is planning to upgrade his cellphone to a better model.
till now he had 5110(for 6 yrs) and after that 3315(for 3 yrs)
so what he requires is a Stable, Easy to use handset.
and to keep up with the technology..

1. he needs to have a internet connection on his Laptop(may be thru GRPS or EDGE)
2. Camera is Not a must.(already have kodak 4.0mp, panasonic miniDV).
3. must be stable(low crash/hanging problem) (he is very impressed by 3315)
4. cost comes second
5. Nokia is preffered.

please suggest something.

Well get a Nokia 3220 then.
It costs rs. 7.5k only.

It got :
* EDGe, GPRS --> so that will take care of lappy problem; but no BT / IRDa
* got cam also
* Stable -> wht do u exactly mean? It's reliable, dont worry.
* It's a Nokia

* 3120 --> 5k ; no IRDa
Both got no cam and both are nokia

I Recommend this
as it will be easier for your dad to use Internet since
with BT & EDGe for Faster internet access.
It doesnt have camera, but dont matter bcoz you dont need

Other Than That:
3220 is a nice option
But you will have to use the Data cable for Internet
That also cost a bomb.

3220- the features and price is very nice but the looks are a bit non-official kind.

6021 - i think it's a bit overpriced for what is being offered.

man that's no problem!! data cables available here for as low as 50(com) and 120(usb).

@vishal_bhatia87, i think it lacks EDGE. and series60 is not that easy to use ( dad tried my 7610 )

Wait for the new 6230i to arrive coz 6230i has the hanging problem in it now Nokia picking up all the phones back from the market. After the new 6203i comes nokia is planning to discontinue the 6230 model. So dont think about this model now.

well it is a good basic color phone. Although except the multimedia features like camera, mp3 playback etc. It is very sleek, decent battery time and very good looking also. It is only for Rs.4990. It is also good choice If your father only wants to lay their hands on phone and sms.

Why is your dad not corfortable with Series 60 phones? In that case get 3220 man, it's very reliable and it's not bulky as it looks in the reviews. See it's dimentions.

LOL... You cannot use those for Internet purpose. I have tried that I am not able to use one I purchased for 350bucks.

It is good basic phone, with colour, mms, gprs(within cell) etc features.
Its for those who want a Nice looking fone....for normal use.
You can go for it
But When you want internet you cant use it.
Bcoz 3120 does not have modem.

If you want Internet on Laptop for your dad...

@club_pranay: I think that the 6021 is decently priced. It offers EDGE, Bluetooth, PTT, color display, etc. for 8k.

The 6230 is a great phone (been using it for 6 months now) but it will be phased out since the 6230i is in the market already. I am not aware of the problems that the 6230i has but features-wsie, it is a great phone. If you want to look beyond Nokia, the SE K700i is a good choice.
