m also same problem.
m using idea. i think the problem lies b/w 2g and 3g services . in 2g its quite common.
and when we chat data is not transferred regularly.

solution to this is that "STOP USING NET ON UR MOBILE OR USE IT VIA WIFI .... OR START USING 3G SERVICES"
deepikaa is too hot man.....

The network is congested whenever one uses GPRS on phone that's the reason your phone becomes unreachable & SMS are received late.

No solution but not to use GPRS when you are expecting a call from someone.

This is a limotation of gprs itself . It cant keep two connection at once . However unless you have an 'active' connection (like downloading something) your connection should be suspended and u'll get the call.

3g dont have this limitation.

never faced problems while gprs browsing & receiving calls on either with my old motorola c168 or current w810 on Airtel
network. both
functions are normal and no interference of one on the other.
must be quality of network infrastructure.

No, no quality difference acts here! The thing is if u r downloading then u are going to miss calls and sms. If data flow is not constant like in chatting or surfing then u will most likely get calls and sms! But on 3g no problem!

It should hang automatically but sometimes it doesn't.

There's no way , but as mastermind have stated , unless you are having an constant connection(like downloading something large) you should get a call .

Downloading has nothing to do with Call. I am using Airtel GPRS through Nokia 3250. I never had problem. It doesn't matter if I am downloading anything or not. Tested Just now : Downloading 9MB file, called up from Landline and received a call without any problem.

Not always but mostly when you're downloading some big file & are getting good speeds of 20+kbps then there is a possibility of missing calls. Being a heavy GPRS user I can say that.

This is not a problem in 3g , infact in 3g , you can simultaniously use data and call. Saw a demo video long time ago where a person was answering a call and downloading maps to use with gps together.

SMS do hang but it is only for a spilt second but with call its next to unlimited. Sometimes on receiving a call & putting it down after a long time might result in the GPRS getting terminated.
