Thumbs up Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 officially announced, with hands-on

*
It’s been a long time coming with numerous leaks and sneak peeks, but now, Sony Ericsson has officially launched the new XPERIA X2, and the big news is that it will be running on Windows Mobile 6.5. And Engadget has got some hands-on time with it, with a full video of the same.
*
Like its predecessor, this one is packed with so much stuff that the company probably didn’t have space to write ‘kitchen sink included’. The one big disappointment from the last model per...

Why to wonder? We were not expecting 1.8 mpx cam .... Wonder thing is display! Only 64k colors.
And why 16 gb support in negative points. He this phone supports 16 gb them it would support 32 gb also.

I think it'll support 32gb but they are touting 16gb for legal reasons .
I'm wondering about 8mpix cam because this is a supposed to be a business phone , which usually lacks great multimedia feature.

Btw , 65k colour is limitation of the **** os it is using

GSMArena has previewd x2 and they say its camera can be even better then c905...and they say it records video in WVGA ( 800x480) at 30 fps

bad news is that it dont play 720p

Seems like they have weaken their strongest point - the look and material , and haven't improved on their weakest point - sluggish performence and weak processor.

yes they should have put a better procc and more ram but we dont know how win6.5 perform with same hardware....I hope win6.5 is tweaked for better performance..

who cares. The first Xperia has been a grossly overprices piece. look at N97, samsung omnia HD, HTC G1, HTC Magic, iphone.

this one has no chance in smartphone market. I would wonder if it's sale number will cross four digits worldwide.

By looking at the hardware seems like this x2 will be priced near current price of x1 . Now that may sell something . But i think this phone is having identity crisis , should we call it a business phone or multimedia phone or what ? Its not perfect in any category .

Btw , i'm wondering how come there is no news about n900 . Its the most amazing phone of this year.

but whats soo bad in it...its cam is great...they must have improved in sound department....its screen is high resolution one...it can record 800x480.....its a smartphone...even screen is 3.2" compared to 3" of x1.....keyboard is 4 line one
...it have optical joystic...sd card support.....3.5mm jack...tv out

Whats soooo bad compared to n97 or htc touch pro2

Elder just tweeted that se is going to scrap windows mobile . X2 will probably the last . Next year they'll release 4 android and 3-4 symbian device.

So support and software update for x2 is gonna be pretty bad i guess.

have anybody used android....i have read that its still very buggy and lack many normal features....We will see the tough competition between many OSs

1. Win mob 6.5/7
2. Android (updated)
3. Symbian new (Open source) OS
4. Maemo 5

Haven't actually used android but i've seen many mnay videos of it . By Default the os is not that great htc have done a tremendous job with 'senseui' . Its so beautiful and so well thought out interface . But i read that android lacks business oriented apps so it'll take little time to develop . I think it'll take place of winmo in future .

Maemo5 is without question the most powerful os out there . Just see the hands on videos. Nokia have finally got the touch interface right . And the most amazing thing is THIS IS THE FASTEST OS OUT THERE . with same procy with 3gs/ pre/i8910 it have almost zero lags in interface . Moreover , unlike android , it runs a pure linux platform , so every debiam apps can be run in maemo with minimal effort(there is already openoffice/abiword/mplayer etc for maemo) . But nokia will probably make it a niche os and may not be as widespread as symbian.

Btw , htc makes for 80% market of winmo . Now that they have decided to make 50% android device , winmo will seriously face some trouble.

I have seen n900 videos and maemo performance...

In HTC hero the android looked superb..REALLY..I have also seen that...but they say it cant even record video and transfer file by bluetooth...WTF

Samsung have done some good job in OMNIA II developing a UI for win 6.5
http://forum2.mobile-review.com/show...564#post816564

If SE could make some more attractive panels for X2 and price it around 27k , It will be a hit

BUT WHERE IS SATIO

Satio is supposedly coming to few eu network oct 7 . But really , whats so special about it except for the high magapixel bragging rights ? And i cant stand the pop-port on side design. Omnia hd is much better buy for the price.

Btw , what do you think about maemo ?? Isnt it the best ??

Now nothing special is left for Satio other then SE UI design....Omnia HD is even priced correctly...If SE does not put Satio right against Omnia HD its going to be a FLOP

I think Maemo is very fast and responsive with same hardware that of Omnia HD...
but again its new and immature..jumping will be risky...
n900 is bit Bulky (180 gm)cant be put in pocket...lets wait for a few months for new devices

Check out this blog to know more bout Satio.

www.blogs.sonyericsson.com/satio

The Satio is going to be a hit.The Maemo is nothing special.Wont be taken up by the operators as it does not allow customization. The only means possible is to sell it sim-free all over which isnt a great idea.Would make it more of a niche product. Samsung is already developing a Linux OS of its own which shall better Maemo and SE hall be out with its version of Android by January when the Rachael is announced. SE and Sony are working jointly on Android customization.Something to look forward to.

On people being skeptial on the satio.
The satio trumps every other S60 phone in the market on a much better UI customization. I am not even getting to the features.

The W995 however is topping all charts in the market and is expected to reach a 1 million mark anytime soon. On top for 8 weeks on a trot.

The Omnia HD was released worldwide in May.It was costlier than the Satio then. You cant expect the Satio to cost what the HD costs now.

Dream , do you have ANY IDEA what maemo is all about and how does it differ from android ? And btw maemo will have carrier customizations , nokia have clearly stated it in recent press release. But yeah it'll be a niche product until maemo 6 comes .

satio is certainly a great phone, but its a bit too much to say it trumps all symbian phones . Specially since we have omnia hd which kills it feature by feature .

Good for se. Good for competition . But just heard that n97 sold 2million+ in two month.

Now dont pull me into Maemo and ll.Every manufacturer shall have a Linux system by the end of 2010.Maemo 6 will be the real step forward, but by then the other manufacturers shall have come out with their own.Samsung are halfway through their development of a LiMo OS and SE and Sony are joining hands in developing the Ubuntu mobile further. The Omnia HD has HD recording to trump the atio which the satio replenishes with its 12 mp camera. I dont see any other "trump".The Satio UI is way better than the HD and the videos prove it much.

About the N97, half the carriers have already stopped selling the N97 owing to quality issues and massive returns.
