Sorry, it lets you do more things than the iPhone @ half the price. Touchscreen is an added bonus. I've myself used a 5800XM and I've an iPod Touch 2G (bought less than a week ago) at my home.

Sound & Speakerfone quality is way better than the iPhone. And yes, it has the first release of Symbian touch which is still in its infancy (less than 3 months old). Perform a firmware upgrade to rectify the bugs and improve the performance.

^^ Simplicity isn't all which matters. People like me will prefer to do *more* things with their fone rather than to do things in a better way.

Edit:

If we talk about the VFM and features to price ratio, it deserves a 9 which is clearly justified by the fact that it has way better ratings than the iPhone through the votes of people like us.

u wanna phone, min com, music machine and EVEN a DIGICAM in the same piece of silicon??? 2MP is enough for casual pics and there is an APP(thez app guys are crazy .. making apps for everything you can imagine), which can process the image and let u feel a 3.2 or 4 MP cam .... so it goes on dudes...
don't ever say that iphone lacks basic features.... It has all the features which even a **** phone has... except 'A2DP' for 1stGen 2G.. (coming up in 3G for 3.0fw)

Can u tell what "more" can you do except for taking btr pics. Or a btr workaround(touch and only touch matters for wholesome exp)

@ico. Use 5800 for a yr and tell us if it's color has faded or the plastic body has became loose because if it can happen with a n95 8gb and n80ie it will happen with 5800 also. Also to mention my iPhone stiill don't have a screen guard and it's more than 6 months and not a single scratch

That's true kaushik bhai,

iPhone build is really good. I am using it since aug 08 without a cover/screen guard and dropped it a couple of times. And to add, it's the mini playststion for my daughter too. But it don't have a single scratch on it's body or screen.

OK,I've used my 5800XM for 2 days now and this is what I have to say,
1. Touch is nowhere near iPhone.
2. Internet browsing sucks royal balls.
3. Net is comparatively slower than iPhone. No idea why.
4. Apps and games don't match upto the quality of iPhone.
5. It's camera is 3.2 MP but it has some noise and can't be compared to other 3.2 MP cameras.

Rest is nice and I can say in some ways it is a much better phone than iPhone and in others it simply sucks.
Overall I found it more VFM over iPhone

Wow you call that a camera and that too a carl-zeiss lens.My 6600 takes better pictures that this phone.
Also sunny bhai have you observed that you cannot switch to secondary(front) cam(if yours is not updated to V20).
V20 also adds Geo-Tagging to camera.

But you have not mentioned the accuracy and speed of GPS on this.It is one of the best mobile A-gps devices i've seen.I found my home in no time using google maps(nokia maps hasn't mapped my town).Also the speedometer on it was very accurate when it tried it on the highway.

Ya one of my friend bought it and he says n73 cam was better for him....

I am not agreeing on this (Unless 5800 has a better GPS then n95 8GB) because i found iphone is fastest to connect to gps compaired to n95 8gb and HTC Diamond and ASUS phones.(Personal exp)

will give personal try this weekend with 5800

I have iPhone 3G,N96,5800XM,HTC Touch Diamond and for me 5800XM has the best GPS around. It much faster than iPhone in terms of GPS.

Yes with opera mini 4.2 and above 5800 and other s60 9.4 phones are supported.

New fones like N82, N79 & N85 are not that slow.

Even I used to curse Symbian for being slow in those days. N80ie was plagued by build quality issues. I'll also agree on that.

Btw, you didn't comment on the 'Build Quality' of the iPhone....

I'm getting used to the pathetic 5800XM touch now.

BTW build quality of iPhone is much better than that of Nokia phones. My iPhone 3G fell down a couple of times and once it dirctly banged against iron but it's all so strong and robust.

I sold it out 2 yrs ago because of its pathetic build quality(n80IE took it because it was i guess first wifi phone)... any ways ur all statements are "General Statements " only..

Ya i dint talked about iphone build quality because the reviews which u pointed out dint matched with my experience(Nor anyone in this forum). I think it might me rare cases or may be with some product lot but not as a whole product itself. No problem... Dont be in hurry... I can bet u will have color or losse plastic problem with 5800. Those days are gone when Nokia used to make solid freak out best products in the market
