Help on Deciding a cell phone with budget around 18K

Please help me in buying a new cell phone say within 18K..

Is the nokia N series good??
Please post ur views/recommendations....

N82 for Camera(Best 5MP Camera phone in the market),Gaming & all round performance.

5800XM for Touch screen,Excellent SQ,decent cam

Depends on ur prefrence

what exactly do ya want from the phone beside the basics?if u lookin for a multimedia phone look nowhere go for xm 5800,bit sluggish at times but great for movies,good for music,if music is the priority then se walkman series.

I just want full value for my money(INR18000)..
I heard some phones have dedicated GPU some have dual processors etc..

In plain words.. "I am totally confused"
Some friends in this forum have purchased N79 some have Purchased N82....

Aaaah my head is spininnnnn....

N79 is latest and some what improved menu types and appearance

But N82 has powerful hardware ,, the minus of N82 is KEYPAD which is tiny

Hey! i too am planning on a cell in that range and this is what i have found.

Firstly, 5800 has some problems. You can check that out at

You will have to go through quite some pages before you truly understand what the cell(in general) is about.

The 2 other phones at that range would be n82 and n79. There have been lots of discussion as to which is better but if you ask me you cant compare them as such.
n82, though a bit old and bulky, is time tested. n79 is a pretty slim phone when compared to n82 because of advancement in technology.
It is up to you to chose b/w n82 and n79, but a word of caution against n79. Here in Bangalore, India, I have heard of some problems in n79 like freezing and keypad problem. Not everyone has encountered these problems though.

One last piece of information, by the first week of April there will be a price drop in nokia cell phones!

From my sources, n82's price will drop by 1k to 1.5k(INR)!!! I truly hope that the prices drop since i am planning on n82!

C902 or W902, but I think W902 is bit costly, must be around 19+ I think.

But since you mentioned 'N series' then I would recommend N82.

N79 = 20,450/-(with Bill of course) kinda expensive.??

N82 = "Not available. Nokia has stopped production and launched N85 instead"

Yup 20450 is on expensive side...did u go to Nokia priority dealer or any mobile shop coz Nokia priority dealers r always costlier.

just enquired with other cell phone dealers and they said N82 is available....

also N79 = 19,200/- with them Nokia Priority dealer quoted me 20,450/-

Ok i hav just seen the handsets physically..
N79 is a bit lighter,smaller & thinner than N82

It seems it also has a better video recording capability
But the N82 has a faster response time

^^ How fast is fast? The difference is in miliseconds only.

What is your main requirement? if it is camera, then don't buy N79.

I beg to differ. Video recording capability of n82 is better than that of n79.

umm...nothing. For camera N82 is better, for Keypad & looks N79 is better

in everything else N82 is either better then N79 or similar.

You haven't mentioned what is your primary requirements from the phone?
