Default Is the W960i really slow?

Hi guys,
I am planning to get the w960i from US. Going through several review sites I found there is a sort of mixed response on it's performance and responsiveness. And I could not find a review on it in here either,

Have you owned a W960i? If so please let me know if it is really slow and if using it is very difficult as told by many people?

Nah man.Its pretty good. Sound quality is great. The initial firmwares were a bit buggy, but the latter firmwares made up for it. Its a good buy.

Any particular reason you want to go with W960i? Cause there are a lot of good alternatives available now.

Yes there are many good alternatives from HTC, O2 etc. But the problem is they are not available in the US. And in India these phones costs a good above 20k which is my budget.
Since I cannot get such a phone with touch screen, good sound, camera and plenty of memory in India for 20K, I am getting it from US.

The W960i comes close to the above criteria, but it is a little outdated. And I have had bad experiences with Nokia so I am not for it.
If you have any other suggestions please let me know.

No nokia please. I had bitter experience with my previous nokia phone. It used to hang for no apparent reasons and each time I took it to the service center I had to wait for almost one month. I have also seen how my friends/colleagues complain that it becomes slow over time.

Wait for the W995 if you dont need a touchscreen. It will be available in April and is the best sounding phone in the market.

Thw W960 is pretty good too and it isnt as slow. Is a bit outdated tho..

it must have been a one off dude ... cos most ppl don have problems wid their nokias ... but since u don want it , i really cant think of any other music centric touch screen fones ... but the w960 is wat i consider as the older generation of touch screen fones that needs a person to use a stylus often ... so the ease of use is bad ... but yeah , the music is good .. u decide

and don get me started bout SE service centre ... they took my k550 , kept it for a month and then finally told me tat there was physical damage and warranty wasnt applicable anymore ... basically all service centres are horrible ... pray u'll never have to go there again

I don't think you'll have any of those problems with the new 5800 XpressMusic. It is a decently fast phone (no slower than W960i). And as for Nokia servicing in India, it is better than that of SE.

It looks like there aren't many phone that matches my requirements. So if I just look only for a good touch screen phone with lots of memory in the budget of 20k which ones would you suggest?

I know this question is being asked again and again in the forum, but I feel it's better know your experiences and views on them after really using them instead of me just going through the synthetic reviews.

Thanks a lot

Hey guys I was not able to reply since I was on the move.

Finally I bought the Xperia. The phone is good but the goodness factor doesn't last because of some things that seems to be overlooked.
The paint peels off the panel easily, the phone is initially slow (After some tweaking, it is better now), the packaging is mediocre and such.

I will do a detailed review if you want. It seems like most of the reviews in other sites just use the synthetic benchmarks and don't dive deep in.
Personally I feel they are not very accurate since I find many good and bad things that are not detailed there.

Anyways now I am looking for some good protection for my phone and came across the BodyGuardz by NLU. It seems many people are using it. However some people have also complained that when removing those protections, the display would get damaged.

Has anyone used this for their phones? And if so what is your suggestion?
It looks like I just cannot go for the screen protector. The whole body needs some protection it as I said above.

The build quality seems good. It's an all metal casing without any plastic. Gives a nice heavy feeling and fits in hand snugly too.
But as I said, the paint peels off too easily. I had put it in my pocket without anything else but still at 3-4 places the paint has come off a little.

Doesn't feel good after paying so much and seeing things like this.
