Default Nokia firmware update

Got my 5220 xm updated a few mins ago from v4 to v4.86. Tell me. Does updating your firmware sometimes be a hindrance? I am experiencing quite a bit of lag now compared to the previous version. How is that? Why is that? Anyone else having a similar problem?

Sometimes upgrading the firmware has some negative or no results at all.

I recently updated the firmware of my phone & failed to notice any significant improvements.
