Re: Execise bike vs trademill
Man, to be honest, go outside. Do jogging, if you don't/can't run without looking stupid(i don't like to run outside, feels weird) then buy a bike [cycle with minimum 5gears]. The joy of cycling is awesome!

Re: Execise bike vs trademill
Okay, so you weigh 102KGs right?
no worries
Try my solution
Get yourself a BSA Photon Bike @3k
and use it for your daily commutes and morning 5-6Km cycling daily (and pedal hard)
Take Oats for Breakfast, rotis and vegetables for lunch and only fruits for Dinner
Try this for 2-3 months, it will strengthen your muscles around your joints and protect them from damage
within 2-3 months you should lose a considerable amount of mass and your core muscles will be strengthened with exercise
Then start walking and cycling at morning alternate days
try this, but i warn you it isn't easy to maintain
But once you start losing weight, you'll love your body once more

Re: Execise bike vs trademill
I was just going to recommend skipping rope but @102, it won't be easy.
Apart from exercising, I think u should consult a dietitioner. He/she should be in a better position to say which particular diet you should follow. Not every diet chart is suitable for everyone.
Then, start with treadmill and some belly crunches exercises."My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right."

I've used normal chain cycle. Does the job for me. Not used the rubber belt, seemed confusing.

Remember to rename the thread
Its treadmill not trademill
I think treadmill is better if you are looking forward to reduce your weight

Re: Execise bike vs trademill
Sujoy, I will share some of my views on the exercising equipment that you are planning. I think three things which will help you in loosing weight are
1. TreadMill
2. Stationery Bicycle
3. Elliptical Trainer
I have read somewhere and also from personal experience feel that in some cases using Treadmill may cause Knee Pain especially if you keep inclination option. However if you have never had any problem with your knees or anybody in your family has any knee pain etc then Tread Mill will be a good option.
Bicycle is also a good option however I don't think you will be losing much of fat/weight with this one. Will take longer time.
I would say elliptical trainer is pretty good option as well on par with Treadmill esp for people with knee pain etc.
What is your height?
That is an important factor to assess how overweight you are.
I think if you plan to have something indoor I would suggest you to do aerobics. Try to google for something called Taebo. I can bet it works best. I know a close friend of mine who was able to loose quite some weight following that without any treadmill etc.
offtopic that dog of yours is cute man. When I come to Nagpur would like to see your dog.

Re: Execise bike vs trademill
My suggestion....join a gym for cardio exercises which will include treadmill....and trust me there are much fatter people than you....you are just 102 kg...i have seen a guy weighing 120kg though he was 6'3".....instead of buying one goto a gym...coz i feel if you buy one you won't be regular.....

Re: Execise bike vs trademill
^^
It all depends on how motivated you are
I have seen ppl who crawl out of gym slowly within a month just because they run of motivation....

Re: Execise bike vs trademill
the reason i suggested was once you have that thing available at home....you get it fixed in your mind that 'ok, i have it at home and i can use it anytime i want' so due to this now that you have it you kind of lose the discipline required to workout daily...so joining a gym will develop a sense of sincerity as obviously coz you are paying for it and also you tend to get motivated when there are ppl around(like if that guy fatter than me can do it why cant I...)

Re: Execise bike vs trademill
Nice to see that we have fitness guidance here too.
You said you have been to GYM but never lost weight ?
I was never over weight but I am kind very experienced with exercise, gym and related stuff.
As friends suggested here, you need to work on your diet and you also need to work on your exercise routine, length ..remember, only thing matter in the end is hard work.. really you need to understand its very hard work .. otherwise every other guy would have been a body builder.. isnt ?
I need to suggest one thing here, buy anything or whatever equipment, jogging is best solution, still whtever workout you do, make sure it is more than 20 mins.. better to make it atleast 45 mins session, make it vigrous.. whtever you do.. even if running make it continuous , and every day, try to break record of previous day and remember, make it gradual process.~Ricky

Re: Execise bike vs trademill
there are two sides for that... when i joined Gym.. morning in bed i will think after coming from office i can go........
in evening i will think "any way it is already late from tomorow morning onwards will continue the gym"
this cycle repeated for many days and i stopped going gym at all....
