Default Connecting Laptop & Desktop


Dear friends,
I would like to connect my laptop and pc by any means. Is there any good and economical way available. Please guide me...

does you laptop have an Ethernet port? If yes, then all you have to do is buy a Network card for your PC (costing around 3-4 hundred bucks), and just connect that stuff! If the laptop is wireless enabled, then....blah blah blah, just google it.

Best + Fastest + easiest + cheepest (< Rs 25 ) Way is a cross over ethernet cable .

cant the laptop n desktop be connected thru a simple usb 2.0 cable???

i thought win xp supported this

yeah but u need to get a usb crossover cable
and software to make ur usb pot fucntion as a networking device
ive said it before ill say it again
make sure u have a lan card on both laptop and desktop and get a cross over cable
its ur best option for a simple network

Happy holy to all those who posted the replies and who are reading this. Friends you have forgotten that this is Tutorials forum. You must explain the things even a new wizard(?) also could understand. Please do mention the settings and selections in details so that It could be used to learn and teach by everyone. This forum's aim is to make every one computer literate. Hope for fine replies....

Hey dude which operating systems have you got in there?How have you decided to connect them?USB? Have you got the right kind of cable[CAT5] first?
Incase you have a bunch of windows xp operating systems family setting up a workgroup environment is as easy as eating american pie.
Setting up a network under XP

I have an OLD laptop wich is running on Win 98
It dosent have a CD rom....
I wanted to connect my desktop running Win XP(without SP2) to this lappy using USB 2.0 only...neway i cancdo that...
