Intel 2nd Gen+external GPU OR Intel 3rd Gen with integrated HD 4000
I am planning to buy a new laptop for my sister. Her usage in the gaming front is negligible. Her main purpose is to watch high quality videos and movies.
Just wanted to know which option out of the following options would be the most suitable, both in terms of use and feasibility:
1) Intel 2nd Gen. with Integrated HD 3000 graphics
2) Intel 2nd Gen. with Dedicated 1 GB card (low-end Nvidia or ATI)
3) Intel 3rd Gen. with Integrated HD 4000 graphics (which is supposedly 40% better than the 2nd gen. GPU)

For the needs you specified even option 1 should suffice. Infact even an AMD apu based laptop would be enough since you get a balance of CPU and GPU. Depending on the prices you could choose option 2 or 3.
AMD Athlon II X4 630 | MSI 785GM E51 | 4 GB DDR3 1333 Corsair | 500+160 GB Seagate | SAPPHIRE HD 6850 | NZXT Gamma | Seasonic 500 Watt :D | Samsung 19" LCD | Google Nexus 4 16GB | Google Nexus 7 16GB

HD4000 is sufficient. once you add a GPU price goes up, battery life down.

Option 2.
If she uses aftereffect or photoshop a low end graphics card would be helpful.
