Default About GPRS Internet Connection.

Hi Friends,

I want to know the speed of GPRS Internet Connection without EDGE.
Is it managable ( 40 to 48 kbps is managable for me), just like dial-up.
Because i want to use it.
I have NOKIA 3100.
Please Give your valuable suggestion who have used the GPRS Internet.

Regards,
Jyotiranjan Panda

You can check at NOKIA
http://www.nokia.co.in
&
read this you may find something
http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/nokia-3100.htm
& http://mobile-review.com/review/nokia-3100-en.shtml

I know 3100 doesnt have the modem

It does have GPRS(within fone) n you can download the stuff like ringtone, n wallpaper etc. via wap.

The gprs thing is actually for within the phone...

It happened to me also ... I purchased the N-3120 last year..for the same purpose... after purchasing the set .. when I ask the dealer that i am havin some problem ... still the dealer told me that it can be used with my Laptop for Internet. I activated the Service from Airtel side.. but when i was installing the Modem Driver .. I found that there is no modem driver for 3100/3120 ... if there is no driver for that ... i checked at nokia ... & n usual the customercare people didnt know anything about that.. n after searching averywhere i found that this fone actually dont have modem ... so if it doesnt have modem ... how can there be the driver for it. So I purchased C-100, its a very good handset for non-edge use.
But It was stolen but luckly it was insured..

Now, I am using Nokia-6020 for the Internet.

Also check wether the local cable can be used for modem purpose..bcoz i am able to transfer the files through that but not for the internet.

Speed: Normally 6-7KB/s on Freedownloadmanger, n Flashget sometimes gives 11KB/s Connection shows 115kbps..but that is IrDa connection rate, ... may be it is 80kbps.
I am getting low speed bcoz I am using the IrDa
I am not able to use the DKU-5 cable I bought for 350 bucks ..

Connection: AIRTEL on Nokia 6020
Charges: Rs.99/-p.m. Unlimited Data Transfer No Limit.
