Default EEEPC Vs Aspire One

Hi All...

Well I need a new PC for just my downloading usage at nights only or 24*7...

I thght of a Shuttle Desktop X10. but its not available in india so my queries have
made me choose between these 2 machines, ASUS Netbook EEEPC 1000H-160G or
Acer Aspire One.

As i have never seen or used these machines please help me. I just need to know
which one is suited for me according to my usage.

My usages are.

1. For browsing..chating..Email.. so a PCMCIA Card option is a must
2. Watch movies with headphones.
3. a just night download rig or a 24*7 ON machine
4. Will put this near my HT and use W-Fi or LAN conection to connect it with my main PC
to stream video to it.

Will the 24*7 On or all night ON will hamper the laptops life?. more heat?. I will not underclock it.

Jerin

Also consider msi wind pc in ur list.

And this ideapad s10 also looks promising.

Just wait for some time.

Asus eeepc 1000h is overpriced IMO.

@@madjeri, seriously, to enjoy multimedia, get atleast a 13" laptop like Dell Studio 13 or those cute 13" laptops from Sony.

ah okay. Then go for EMi option na.
Anyways, Look for Ideapad.

Among the above two, I pick EEE PC. Not sure but,

EEE PC has 10" display model and One has 8.9"
EEE PC has upto 80Gig HDD and One has upto 8Gig.

Watch out for MSI Wind, HP 2133 mininote and Dell Inspiron 9 (8.9" UMPC).

HP Mininote 2133 comes with Via Chrome processor which is rated to be better than Intel Atom. NOt sure about app compatibility though.

I have seen two models, an eeepc @ Rs 20000 and an acer one @ Rs 20000

The acer does not have bluetooth and camera

The eeepc at the SAME price has both the above and everything else the acer one has.

I still think IdeaPad S10 is the one top watch out for. Especially because at 20K, it comes with 160GB HDD and 1GB RAM, along with the usual bluetooth, camera, etc. And there are strong hints that India and China can get the linux version .

And yeah, Lenovo and Acer both have a Celeron 1.8GHz laptop at 20K. I think they a+re 14 or 15 inches. You might want to consider them as well.

With a budget of 25K max, you can even get Acer Aspire 4520, if you bargain a lot.

yes. EMI option can be a bit tricky. You may lose some 2k-3k for purchase of 50k laptop.

Anyways, you can go for Acer 4520. My friend is using this for past few months and it's a great model to get.

if you want UMPC, ASUS is the best option i think, esp. the new ASUS S101

Thats why I said acer. The reviews are pretty decent actually. Infact, the onboard GMA 950 can even run windows aero, apple aqua and compiz fusion comfortably. I am refering to the 20K laptop here.

And if you go Compaq, you can get some VERY GOOD GMA X3100 based graphics and celeron 2.0GHz CPU along with 160GB HDD and 1GB RAM options with 15" screen for 24K.

???...

i prefer dont going EMI .. coz i never buy one with EMI ... this time i only planned for EEEPC or Wind.. hence 25k .... will look it over first... if it fails.. then will postpone the purchase for another month and buy a dell vostro 14" or anything like that...

hey can we upgrade the ram on EEE PC or Acer One or MSI Wind??

Among these which would u guys recommend...

My uses will be..

1. Movies.. maybe 1080p.. but 720p are a must... screen will be a large display..
2. browsing..
3. Office suite..
4. Development IDE's like VS
5. Downloading.. so a high uptime is a must... maybe 24*7 ...

or a Dell vostro 14" is enuff for this??
