Exclamation I/O error in new DVD writer


Hello Friends!
I bought a new LG DVD writer.When I run a DVD in it,it shows but when I try to copy or run files from that DVD I can't.It show "Can not copy xyz.Request could not be performed because of an I/O device error" Can some explain why so & how to resolve the issue.I am using
COMPAQ presario 2400 (2 Ghz) with AMD atholon XP(2003 purchased) with Service pack 2 installed.Other configuration includes 384 Mb Ram,40 GB 5400 rpm HD etc.

try different "known" working DVD..if not work..whatelse but claim warranty..
