5.1 channel sound system

I have Lenovo Y500 HCQ-0768 Laptop. I recently received a gift from a friend of mine a 5.1 channel sound system. My problem is i don't know how to connect the 5.1 channel sound system to my laptop. Please advice.

first of all you need a sound card that supports 5.1 channel spkrs..........in most of the laptops there is no support for 5.1 channel spkrs..........so you will have to buy a sound card that supports 5.1 channel

Buy an external USB sound card which support Surround Sound.
