Thumbs down Help to upgrade my AMD Processor (939 socket)

I have an old gaming system with following configuration..

AMD Atholon 64 3500+ (Socket 939)
Asus A8 VN CSM Motherboard
DDR 400 2GB RAM
NVidia 7300 GT 256 MB (DDR2)

Now i have a plan to upgrade by Processor and Graphics card without changing my "Stable Mothreboard". (cost no bar)
One of my friend told that socket 939 AMD processor were gone out in the current market and i must change my motherboard too.
I want some opinons of Digitians.

You can't upgrade while keeping your current motherboard since all new CPUs are socket AM2 or AM2+ or (soon) AM3.

But as it is, your rig is pretty decent. You can definitely hold it for some time.

And since you said {cost no bar}, why not change mobo too ?

And yeah, since Deneb is soon arriving, I suggest you push on till january with your current rig.

Please change your mobo too.

I suggest an Intel config

Intel E8400 + MSI P45 Neo-F + Palit HD4850 512MB GDDR3 + 4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM

If you want to stick with AMD then ->

AMD Athlon 64X2 6000+ + some good 780 mobo + same as above

I still don't get the point of upgrading too soon. Even I am putting off my upgrade till deneb arrives. Its worth it.

And yeah, AMD 6000+ is a big joke. Nobody in their right mind would buy it for a gaming rig today

Socket AM2 is must for your upgrades...Sell your old Socket 939 based board.

Hell yeah.

And even AM2 is obsolete

Aaj Ke Zamane mein AM2+ miltha hai

But I still advice you to wait for AM3 to be formally out on January.

Knowing AMD, I am sure they will release an awssome cheap chipset for it soon, mostly with RV 730 intergrated graphics if we are lucky.

So wait. Its worth it.
