USB Mouse goes missing at startup

HI all,
I have Win-XP pro SP 2 running on P3 1.13G
many a times my USB optical mouse dont work agter system startup.

Every time this happens I uninstall the device from device manager and then after rescanning system for hardware changes the mouse is detected and installed again.

The hardware is perfect because even after replugging in the pointer stays at center. In device manager the mouse is having yellow qustion mark.

I will be glad to know aboit the cause and sollution.

U may need some specific drivers from the mouse manufacturer to use it properly. BTW which mouse model do u have ?

Thank 4 posting. I m using Microsoft USB optical scrolling mouse

It always happens with this damn Microsoft optical USB mouse. I hate it whenever it happens. If one is irritating, imaging 7 of these mouses troubling me. DAMN.

Lalit, You need not go to the trouble of uninstalling and scanning for new scanner. Just disconnect the USB cable and reinsert it. Works just fine.
