Default Palit 9800gt VS 4850!!!

Guys i was planning to buy palit 4850 for 9.7k but nw i noticed tat palit 9800gt @7.9k is almst same as 4850 in some benchmarks. Wats ur opinion guys. Am very confusd nw!
also my monitor is viewsonic 19inch WS. But it doesnt hav dvi. Does palit provide dvi2vga converter with its card like xfx did for 8600gt? If nt can i buy it separately?
also wil my proc e6300 bottleneck 4850/9800? Shud i overclock it?

no HD4850 doesn't perform same as 9800gt ..where did u see that, infact it performs better than much higher model(best of 9800 series)9800gtx+ (i hope now i can safely said that @ tkin .

actually its the scaling which sets HD4850 apart from 9800gt ..when u apply eye candies or AA/AF HD4850 doesn't suffer any substanial FPS loss upto a resolution of 1900x1200 in most heavy duty games.

9800gt available at 7.5k is good in its own right but never its close to Hd4850 ..

at 19" monitor u might not feel much difference cos the resolution max u can get 1440x900 or 1280x1024 (a little higher)...at which both card might give u playable experience in most of the games with max settings.

but still with crysis or some other games u can feel the difference ...

go for HD4850 if u can u won't regret ....and anyways u will need a good good PSU for both.

palit HD4850 card comes with a DVI to VGA convertor.

only in games which are processor dependent ..like crysis ..but otherwise C2D is more than enough for most of the games ...about overclocking ..if u feel u are getting low or unplayable FPS in lots of games (which u will not),i don't think u will need to overclock unless u want to push the system to play games like crysis in high res with high details.

I say that you go for the HD4850. After its heating issues were phased out, it just became perfect. Sure, the 9800GT outperforms it in some games by a little margin but as you increase the resolution and/or AA/AF/Volumetric Effects, the 9800GT gets a huge drawback. The 9800GT is for the buyers who want a card under 8k. You should definitly buy the Palit HD4850. Dont worry about the processor, it wont be a bottleneck. Ensure that you atleast have a 500W PSU.

corsair is nt available here.
i can only play at max 1440x900. so does it make sense to go for 4850.

if u can go for it ...yes it does make sense IMO...cos u easily get better performance than 9800gt...and newer games coming out will be played better on Hd4850 rather on a 9800gt ...

most of the people here use 19" and still did go for HD4850 ...

if u can buy HD4850 ..u should buy it! because the performance u get for the money u pay is simply worth it ...this card will still be strong when newer games come out

9800gt simply loose out pretty badly when u apply eye candies at higher resolution.

HD4850 ftw.....

buy a CM500W or Antec Trio 650W

Corsair will need a sine wave UPS or no UPS . Otherwise there will be compatibility issues.

it can't be cos antec 380W costs 3.8k or so ....all the PSU for OCZ,thermaltake, tagan and antec starts from 4k onwards ...and they are pretty costly ...only budget solution PSU one can have is from CM or corsiar vx450 ...else its just costly for budget user

Why not get a PSU from VIP or Zebronics?? Heard they are good for budget users.

PSU only Corsair VX450W... Nothing else in that price range can match its quality!! Cooler Master is not good!! All CM Extreme Power versions work at 70% efficiency.

Zebronics.... Maybe..
VIP... NO NO NO NO!!!!

Palit HD4850... I am using it.... Probably one of the best things i have bought in my life!!!

VX450W requires a sine wave UPS or you must use without a UPS.

It will cause incompatibility issues with non sine wave UPSes.

Actually, 4850 is comparable to 9800GTX+ and 8800GTX, but Ultra is stronger

Well, here's a price update on 3870X2, MSI has reduced it to 230$, which is much lower than 4870 itself. So expect this card to be for (not yet in India) about 13k, which is awesome cause it performs better than 9800GTX+, 8800ULTRA(which is better than 9800GTX+), and equals 9800GX2(cause this MSI 3870X2 is factory OCed).
