thanks for your quick reply rajkumar_pb.
So you mean to tell, using laptops screen with the CPU is not a good idea.
What do you suggest? Intel or AMD?

Yes.... get a new monitor... a 17" CRT would cost about 5800 and 15" CRT for 4000

I always suggest a Intel personally... But here in ur case AMD is the bang for buck and if u would spare another 3k for intel rig get a ASUS EN8600GT and it slash away the AMD counterpart.. if u choose E7200 as proccy.....

Yes.. XFX 630i has a better onboard graphics and if u would able to buy a GFX card after some time sure you make it as a medium-powered machine...
So u decide E7200+XFX 630i+2GB DDR2 huh rite....
Anyway go get the Intel Rig man.... Good choice.....

Re: Budget PC at 15000rs.
Will get the Intel Rig man... Thanks for your quick responses.
I think ill have to buy a Monitor too.
I have a CRT monitor 17 inch. It has a peculiar problem. I have to keep switching on the monitor power button nemerous times, to get it to work. Sometimes in 5 tries, sometimes it seems like forver clicks.

Re: Budget PC at 15000rs.
Go to the nearest service center to fix the problem in monitor and it doesn't cost u more than 750bucks for servicing...
If not so, then get a 17" CRT for around 5.8k(more or less).....I prefer a LG and ViewSonic .....

Re: Budget PC at 15000rs.
1) First and foremost, check how much disc space does SAP version that you have eats. The latest one is said to take up more than 200Gig.
2) yes. you can use your laptop to connect to your desktop (use vnc or netmeeting). That is not a big concern here
3) To run SAP you have to concentrate most on
Processor
HDD
RAM
HDD: Seagate 500GB 32MB buffer SATA2 HDD. Rs.3k to 3.5k
Processor: Intel Core2Duo E7200 for 5k-5.5k
Mobo: GA-EG31MF-S2 :3k-3.3k or Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2L: 4k or XFX 630i. I pick XFX 630i
RAM: 2Gig Kingston DDR2 800: 2k-2.1k
DVD writer: Sony/Samsung: 1.1k
Keyboard: TVSE Gold: 1k or Logitech multimedia: 400rupees
Mouse: Microsoft optical: 400rupees
Mercury/Kobian cabinet: 1.2k-1.5k

He does not want to connect both the machines, he wants to use the Laptop screen as his Desktop monitor ( Thats wat I understood from his description)
Ur procedure will surely work but, in that case he has to configure his CPU first, like OS install, drivers etc, how would he do if he doesn't have a standalone monitor?
B/W just found this......... link

Re: Budget PC at 15000rs.
Thanks desiibind for your suggestions. rhitwock is correct. That is how i wanted to use the laptops screen as monitor for the CPU.
Thanks for finding the details man.
But now i have decided to mend my old 17 in CRT monitor to work with the CPU.
getting the laptop screen to act as a monitor for another system sounds trouble, i wont go there.
Ill get the software system requirements and let you know.

Re: Budget PC at 15000rs.
I agree with desi, vnc or better say a software is what will get you use the laptop monitor, there is no port to connect to laptop monitor, so be clear in this front first.
HDD cappacity more than 250 GB to leave sapce for SAP, it needs minimum of 160 or 180 GB and you also need to install OS and many other apps.
But even it get it(vnc or any remote desktop) working you need to have a monitor first to initate this
I will personally say get DG31 supports max 4GB or DG33 supports max 8GB RAM.
630i chipset does not supports dual channel RAM, so RAM efficiency will be little lower.
ANd also there is a catch here, intel original motherboards cost alot much higher than MSI or Gigabyte, hence get MSI or Gigabyte
2GB 800 FSB RAM costs 1800
for monitors my personal suggestion is get a 17 inch LCD than getting a CRT.
You can get decent config in 20K including monitor.
