Default Which HDD to buy?

Hi guys,
I've planned to buy an Fast 500GB Hard Drive as an addition to my old Seagate 160GB HDD.
I've shortlisted three HDDs: WD WDC5000AAKS, WD WDC 6400AAKS and Seagate SD3500320AS. These three HDDs specs are very alike. But the Seagate has 32MB of cahce compared to WD's 16MB. So should I buy the the Seagate one or the WD one? The system is mainly for gaming.
Thanks.

go for either WD WDC6400AAKS or Seagate 500GB HDD with 32MB buffer. It's blazing speed cannot be matched.

but WDC6400AAKS has the best VFM.

U Can Go For Any 640GB Fast HDD. So That 160+640 = 800GB Storage

My priority is speed+ 500GB storage space. So which of three HDDs, you guys think is the fastest? The seagate one?

yep. Seagate one with 32Mb buffer.

Note: There is another seagate 500gig model with 16Mb buffer. Don't go for that.

I was using a WD5000AAKS which has gone in faulty. I have asked for a replacement and this looks pain. I purchased a Seagate baracudda 500GB last night for 3200/- and it matches the performance of my WD5000AAKS.

If you would be abusing your HDD, better go for Seagate as their replacement procedure is easy and quicker than WD or Hitachi.

By far, my experience with Hitachi Desktar has been the best.

really... but in case of seagate even though they provide excellent customer support i feel like their HDDs are just going down on quality.. most of my friends seagate HDDs got screwed up so soon after purchasing...but i must say their service just rockz..atleast here...

No doubt, Hitachi is the best bet. But with service/replacement in mind Seagate is a better bet.

Seagate guys are a cool bunch, they even don't care to check the serial no while giving replacements

Could that be due to improper handling?

All kinds of G tests are done on each and every HDD and if it fails, most probably it could be due to mishandling like moving it often or keeping it in a place with heavy vibrations (like keeping near subwoofer).

I am using seagate HDD since 2002. Bought one in 2002 and one in 2005. Both are working and not even a single bad sector.

We can rule out the possibility of improper handling as we use Western digital and maxtor HDDs with seagate and they are working like a breeze

^^Nope. If you ask them the reason for failure, there is a good chance they would tell.

well they send the replacement HDD to the dealer and those ppl just don't take the pain to explain the reason as they don't find any benefit in that

I've been using my Seagate 160GB drive since 2005. It still works fine for a gaming comp.
