Default connecting 2 PC


i searched a lot of thread but cant find any thread that help me, so i created this new one

i have a PC with 2 LAN port and DSL internet connection
and i wnt to connect with laptop ( 1 port internet IN and 1 OUT to laptop) using cross cable
the first night i bought the laptop, i was able to connect within 5 mins, but the next morning it refuse to connect

i've tried the same method like before but internet is not working in laptop

files can be shared, got ping reply from both sys but still internet is not working in laptop

both firewall is turned off



please, guys, help me with this step by step ( if possible, from the very beginning )

OS is both XP Professional

EDIT : from laptop, i cant get ping reply from the port connected to modem

what gaeway u have set in your laptop

the default gateway for ISP is 192.168.1.1
so i just use like the the default one

Her it goes, your default gateway should be the PCs IP, actually the IP of the second card.

Make the IP for LAN card as 192.168.2.1 and your laptop as 192.168.2.2
subnet 255.255.255.0

Your modem would be 192.168.1.1 and your system IP through the LAN card conneced to modem would be 192.168.1.2

i set up everything right but no internet connection on laptop

and.... finally i solve my own problem

i called up AIRTEL customer care and they told me that it cannot be connected to 2 system without using router or switch

acewin.... thanks anyway
